I like this hire, You only have to look at the stability of his previous destinations (apart from LA last year) He seemed to be part of something at each stop. Plus being around Thibs and the Van Gundys tells me this guy is a professional

Now draft Anthony Bennett!!!! LMAO

Good hire at this point in our situation. He should have been the hire last year.

I think Clifford is about as good as we could hope for. Experienced, prepared, effective in strategy and player development & relationships. Time will tell.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

His recent coaching destinations and the fact that Patrick Ewing might be brought in now raises my eyebrows. People always overlook that the pieces to make the playoff's was there last season.....we just need a REAL coach.

@DavidBaumann33: SVG just gave me a quote on new #Bobcats HC Steve Clifford: "Steve is a great coach. No one more deserving. No weaknesses... (Continued)"

@DavidBaumann33: More Stan Van Gundy on #Bobcats' Steve Clifford: "...Great X and O guy and tremendous teacher... will have his team prepared every night."

I actually like this hire. He's not a flashy hire, but he has all kinds of experience and seems to be a grinder. He comes from the Van Gundy's, which I trust, and is a defensive minded guy. Seems to be very personable and have good player relationships as well.

I would also be very happy with Patrick Ewing coming on this staff as well.

I think Clifford could stick around for the length of his contract. I look forward to seeing what he can do. I think this will be a solid hire with the potential to carry this team into the days of winning.

I like this hire, obviously seems pretty similar to what we thought we were getting in Coach Dunlap but with the relevant NBA prerequisite.

I would really like Ewing to be on our staff and with Silas and Winters hopefully as well.

I think we went the big man coach because it works with Stephen Silas' guard coaching.

I don't want to see Stephen Silas or Brian Winters stick around on staff. Silas has been a part of two horrible Bobcats seasons. It's time to move on.

Stephen Silas is a good coach by all accounts, he has the relevant NBA experience and is widely respected throughout the league and especially by the Charlotte franchise.

I imagine our players would revolt if Silas jr was dumped.

Winters actually has HC experience which should be invaluable for Clifford.

From what Bonnell, and others have said, I don't think that is the feeling at all. Silas still have 2 years left on his contract and is likely to stick around. Bonnell even mentioned him being the "offensive coordinator" under Clifford, which is what Silas is best at.

I would be happy with Clifford, Silas, and Ewing forming the early coaching staff. I would love to see what Clifford and Ewing could do with Bismack. I also think that a lot of the development we have seen from Kemba can be attributed to Silas. The man is a very solid coach from all accounts. I would absolutely want him and Ewing brought on board with the new HC.

Silas is a revered guard coach around the league, his work with GSW was well recognised.

There is a reason that Monta have it all.

If Silas is under contract for another two years I guess we can let him stick around then. Although I have a feeling that a coach as experienced as Clifford might want to bring his own staff of proteges along with him to assure his first head coaching gig isn't a failure beyond his means.

All of these things people are being quoted as saying about Coach Big Red Dog are so cliché. Great X`s and O`s guy, great player development guy, great people guy, great defensive guy etc. We hear that all the time with these new hires.

How long will it be before Coach Big Red Dog trots out the old - I plan on the team playing up tempo and really pushing the ball up the court taking advantage of their athletic ability....

Experienced coaches want Silas on their staff.

The guy is well respected around the league and is an NBA endorsed development coach ie the NBA used to hire him to go overseas to teach people fundamentals of basketball.

This isn't like a "I guess we'll let him stick around" thing, the guy can stay as long as he wants, he is our best assistant by far.

This dude is the youngest assistant coach in NBA history at 27 years old with our very own Charlotte Hornets.

This guy has a degree in both sociology and management from Brown, this guy is a smart, hard worker who is an asset to the Charlotte franchise.
