Now back on my radar for the POR pick: Luke Hancock, Outstanding Player of the Final Four '13. He had a cold start to the season but is starting to fire on all cylinders again. Hancock reminds me of JJRedick. If we do get McDermott around 10, then I'd probably rather grab a backup PG at 25, but I would not object to Cool Hand Luke.

Hancock is a senior who has never averaged over 40% from three any year in college (including this year), yet three point shooting is pretty much the only thing he brings to the table. No thanks.

We're splitting hairs over these guys. I'd be happy with McDermott, LaVine, Harris or James Young. And there's still a chance we get 2 of those guys.

Now that our backup PG is 33 years old, I hope we look for our backup PG of the future with the POR pick.
And after watching last night's big game, I hope one of the guys we consider is Marcus Paige. A PG who shoots 40% from 3 and 90% from the ft line, and who's so dangerous Duke has to cover him box and one, sign me up.

I love Marcus Paige and would love to see him playing with us, but I don't see him pulling a Marshall and coming out after this season.

I think he is a 4yr player to be honest, he isn't NBA ready yet either

Semaj Christon?

Probably going to be available at #24.

Would be a great pick imo.

Semaj Christon has been my #1 option as a possible backup PG for Charlotte with the Portland 1st rounder all season due to his size, defensive potential, and ability to score. Christon is a bit pseudo-Ramon Sessions, but let's just say that he won't be a old dog that you can't teach new tricks as a rookie

I would definitely like Semaj Christon. I'm just not sure he'll be around that late.

I'm with you on that, Christon would be perfect despite lacking a good/consistent outside shot.

Just his defensive potential and size are major pluses for what we'd need from a backup point.

If we drafted him and retained Pargo for another season (for his spacing ability) we'd be set at PG imo.

I believe that Christon will be available as a late first.

If he's gone then I'd imagine someone like Ennis has dropped and would be available and also Vasilije Micic would be available.

I don't think there are too many teams that need a point and the ones that do, that have earlier picks would target Clarkson imo.

Deonte Burton could also be in the mix for us.

Barring a breakout NCAA tourney in which I don't think Xavier is making the 68-team format, or Christon returning for his junior year, I think it's far from set in stone that he'll go before #24th overall. Christon is currently projected to go in the 2nd round by DraftExpress even though NBADraft.net has him going around #19th overall in their mock draft

To our surprise, Christon is actually shooting 47% on 3-pointers this season, but on limited attempts (1.1 3-point attempts per game)

I would probably prefer another veteran savvy backup PG for spacing than Pargo with Christon to round out Clifford's need for three point guards on the roster, but he could very well fit the bill going into training camp, I guess

If you want a poor man's Ramon you could do a lot worse than Askia Booker from Colorado.

I'd rather have Nick Stauskas than Gary Harris.

Im not sure who i would want more (Stauskas or Harris) both can shoot but Nik is the better 3pt shooter and he is bigger while Gary has more of an all-around offensive game and better defense but is also somewhat injury prone

I wonder who was Cho scouting specifically between Gary Harris & Nik Staukas. My guess would be Harris, but it could've been a variety of players when you include Adreian Payne & Glenn Robinson III

He'll be there to watch all of them imo.

Enough pro prospects and rivalry/big game atmosphere to warrant 3 GM's being there in person.

Props to Cho, Hennigan and Ujiri for doing the leg work.

At a glance i'd suggest that Cho is doing his due diligence on Harris specifically, Harris would be a great pick at #9, if Randle is not available.

Cho is probably scouting Mitch McGary for the Detroit pick

as far as I know (could be mistaken) Cho doesn't have 'scouting' chops per se, more of an analytical guy. if that's true, what's he going to gain from seeing prospects in person exactly, as opposed to Anonymous Scout #6?
