Don't get the big deal.

The big deal is that we are desperate for talent on our roster. We fuxed up and got stuck with Jeff Taylor's contract by not waiving him during the summer when we had a logjam at the wing position. Maxiell is prolly the worst 3rd string center in the league while we got Vonleh our lottery pick rotting on the bench. That's what the big deal is.

Maxiell simply isn't good. There are D-Leaguers and free agents that can give us more production than what Maxiell is giving us on the floor. For all his faults, I feel like Byron Mullens could've learned a few things from Clifford, Ewing, and Big Al about being a NBA big man. Mullens wasn't getting annihilated every night by opposing backups like Maxiell does.

Yes.

I did in fact advocate bringing Mullens back to Charlotte.

Mullens was better than Maxiell. Maxiell shooting 39% and all he do is shoot easy shots. He a bum. But we play him because of his #energy and #experience nevermind his #trashy #inefficient #lackluster results. He only average 6 rebounds per 36. Lol

"Probably the worst third string center." I don't want to think about how you'd prove that and don't want to wish a ton of terrible player reviews on you so won't ask you to, but I don't buy that at all.

If we cut Maxiell we'd still have Vonleh on the bench, that's not going to change, so we'd just have to go find someone who doesn't know our system and immediately play them minutes because Al is out.

Signing a big off the street isn't going to change the talent level of this team. Not sure what Taylor has to do with anything, and that's a terrible example anyway because the only reason he didn't play was the suspension. With all the injuries and Hairston's underwhelming start, we actually could have used him.

If Taylor was capable we could use him now but he's not. We just kept him because it felt like the right thing to do out of pity and he was one of Cho's cherished picks.

Back on topic about the bum Maxiell. I'm about to do my research to see how many bigs are shooting less than 40% and averaging less than 6 boards per 36 simultaneously. I bet he'll have the most minutes out of that sh*tlist and that's if he isn't the only one.

Again, the only reason he is playing is because Al is out and Biz can't stay on the court. He was completely out of the rotation until Al went down.

Lol not sure if I would call a second round pick a cherished pick. But thats off topic.

Would rather we dumped him and had a revolving door for that last spot. Hell, if it came to it we could bring him back on a 10 day, this just hurts our flexibility.

Yup. He's in some rare company of trash. He's the worst 3rd string C in the league. The other guys on the list don't play C or aren't in their teams rotation.

The revolving door process has typically worked well for us. We got CDR that way. Adrien. Pargo.

We need a backup center. We're playing an unathletic, aging, unskilled 6'6 PF at center. You can't convince me that somebody like Earl Barron wouldn't be better than Maxiell. He's in the D-League right now, but he's 7'0, 250, putting up 20/10, and shooting 36.8% on 2.9 3PA/game.

To put that into perspective, we have exactly one player shooting a better percentage from deep and he will only see the floor if we're up 30 or if Kemba or Roberts is hurt. Barron's an okay defender too. There is absolutely no way he's not worth a pair of 10 day contracts.

Oh my god that list is depressing. Gerald Wallace has played 14 games and he's 2 of 8 on the season? ****.

We could use an overhaul at center period.

Maxiell is the worst rotation big in the league. Earl Barron or whoever woulda been a better option. It's ludicrous that we guaranteed his contract. I've seen players play 10x better on 10-day contracts not retained by other teams.

Waiving Maxiell before his contract was guaranteed woulda been a nice start. What are we, the pity program that reward nice guys?

It's about time this front office made some noise. They've been aggressive for change starting a month ago according to Zach Lowe.

Hes obviously mentoring Vonleh. Or doing something we don't see. Every time Biyombo or Zeller comes to the bench hes the first one there to give them a high five and talk to them.

Not saying thats a reason to guarantee his contract, but its really not that big of a deal in my opinion.

Oh it's a big deal when he's statistically the worst big in the league and our starting C is gonna be out for a month. He scores at a lesser rate than freaking Biz and rebounds half as much while shooting 39% on shots at the rim for fux sakes. Lol

Pero Antic (ATL's second stringer) is BARELY over 40% (40.2%) and he averages only 5.7 rebounds per 36.

Jason Smith shoots 43% for a miserable NYK team and he averages only 6 rebounds per 36. Justin Hamilton was shooting 41% and averaging 5.7 rpg.

He's in rare company of third string centers that ever play. Third stringers like Mike Muscala, Alex Kirk, whoever Chicago considers to be their third string between Nazr Mohammed and Cameron Bairstow, Greg Stiemsma, Jeff Withey, Shayne Whittington, Clint Capela and Brendan Haywood don't get enough PT to even merit looking at their stats.

It's a stupid argument to say that Maxiell is worse than Joe Shmo third stringer for Chicago who never gets in the game.

There is no defending this. People saying this isn't a big deal must have forgotten that he actually has to play since Al is out and played 29 minutes the other night. I guess since he is a nice guy, talks to to Vonleh on the bench, and there are a couple other 3rd string centers that are almost as bad we should just go ahead and extend him for a couple years. There are plenty of players that we could sign or call up from the d-league that would be better. We could have had Jeff Adrien instead of him. Him getting signed, being thrust into the rotation, and now getting a guaranteed contract just exemplifies the ineptitude of our front office and coaching staff. This guy has no business on an NBA roster even getting a single minute. It admittedly isn't a huge deal but that doesn't change how wrong and stupid it is. We aren't good enough to be throwing around guaranteed contracts to undersized washed up bums like this.

If Al gets injured again or isn't capable of playing starter minutes after he returns our brain dead coach is going to keep giving this guy minutes. It definitely matters.
