Kinda interesting as some of us have been discussing making a move on a Sixers player. While he wasn't officially on the roster, it seems he was on the radar for them as they're currently at the max number of players you can have in the off-season.

This signing has me excited about our potential 15th roster spot. I was totally expecting the last two spots were going to Damien Wilkins and Jason Maxiell. Hopefully we sign or trade for a young wing. I'm personally hoping for Jerami Grant, but I really have no idea what young defensive capable SF's are out there that have some upside. Does anyone have their eyes on any sleepers out there that we might be interested in?

I can't see Rick's accompanying tweet, but I imagine it involved grumbling about a transaction happening so close to deadline.

Man, I fell asleep last night on the couch at like 10:30. I go to bed that early about twice a year. I never got the chance to log back on to the net and check out the news. And of course the we go out and sign some Wood and you guys make an epic thread. Well done.

Don't think T. Jones was an option for us. With his natural position as a PF and the our current roster, he wouldn't get much playing time behind Marvin and Frank or even MKG if we play small.

I like the signing of Wood though. A young potential type player we can look forward to, while not holding a lot of risk. From what I see, he plays out of control and seem like a way from NBA ready. I definitely see a lot of Tyrus Thomas in him... could be a good thing.

*Side note: My first Bobcats jersey was a Tyrus Thomas... needless to say I didn't get much use out of it. Smh.

Agreed. Can we issue a board wide approval of this?! From now on Christian Wood is our rookie draft pick selected at #22 in the 2016 NBA draft.

Im sick of thinking about that bellinelli trade and this could be funny when outsiders try to correct us.

Change the thread title to

"Rookie of the Year Watch - Christian Wood"

I'll think of him more as our 2nd round pick, who slipped in the draft and then Cho stopped his press conference, waiving off a Bonnell question, to get on the phone and buy a pick to draft Wood.

(Scene: Cho's press conference on draft night, happening in the early 2nd round)
Bonnell: Rich, can you talk about how I was right about Lance Stephenson two years ago?
[Cho glances down at his cell phone, leans over to one of his scouts]
Cho: Wood is still on the board? Seriously? OK, **** this, get MJ on the phone, tell him to give me money for a pick
[Cho gets up and walks out]
Bonnell: Wait, where are you going? I've got more questions. Can you tell everyone I was right about the Hornets losing in the first round?

Any chance we signed him with a guaranteed deal using the vet min? That would take this signing from 3/4 erect to full erect.

Now we have a reason to watch the Stinkbugs.

I kinda like Jones as a Marvin-like player but I understand your point. We could maybe have gotten him for the Room MLE, but he needed to go to a place where he could recoup some of his value and like you said he wouldn't get that here.

There are quite a few wings that aren't under contract that could be decent in a 3 and D role. The three guys I like are Jordan Hamilton (picked before Butler in 2011), Scotty Hopson (top 10 recruit in Kemba's class that has played well overseas), and Dorian Finney-Smith (top 20 recruit from MKG's class that should have been drafted this year).

All of them are 23 and older, but I prefer to get someone that has the experience to contribute now in case MKG goes down and Lamb continues to be inconsistent.

Other than those three Jerami Grant and maybe James Young could be smart pickups if either end up getting cut.

39 seems a random number to pluck from nowhere, likely that he was tipped off before/during the draft that Charlotte was interested at #39

Nice find by Plowright.

How do you bomb the interviews so hard that you go from a potential late 1st rounder to not even getting drafted?
