I thought you had to wait like 90 days to trade recently signed players

since when is 17/6/4 'great'?? wtf

he's averaged 10 ppg the last two years in the playoffs too

Scored, rebounded, assisted as 4th option on really good shooting splits. He put 18 as the 4th option, that’ll easily be over 20ppg here on similar efficiency most likely. He’s good in pick and roll, another playmaker so we won’t be overly dependent on Ball and Graham. I think Rozuer may be on the way out now. Hayward is also big enough to play the 4 when you want to go small with PJ at the 5.

He was the 4th option because he couldn't get keep up

i'm done with yal man lol.... if we were gonna ruin our rebuild, we could've done by trading for westbrook. not a guy who was overrated *before* a catastrophic leg injury

Hayward is going to average 20/5/5....but not be good enough to drag us into the playoffs. We'll pick 9th and pick whoever falls in the draft....again.

why aren't you excited

Hard to judge this move until we see the next move.

Could be better or could get worse.

We desperately needed a vet shooter on the wing to bring some glue to the young core. Odds are Rozier gets moved soon which opens up some money. The overall cap sucks for 2020-21, but after that it's not as bad.

There is def risk given his injury history, and it does scare me to think that we have a Chandler Parsons-esque signing here. However, I really love the player given our current, and future roster. At 30, he's not as old as a Chris Paul or Westbrook kind of signing, and IMO, a much better team player than either of those two.

Any chance we go small ball:

LaMelo
Graham
Hayward
Bridges
PJ

That is definitely our best 5 man lineup in terms of fit. I’m on board with moving some combination of Graham, Rozier, Bridges, Batum, Monk and Zeller for a scoring or 2 way wing and a starting caliber center. Melo, Hayward, PJ are a stromg core. I would say Graham too, but I’m a afraid of overpaying him. If he’ll settle for less because we took a chance on him, then yeah he’s a keeper too.

Terrible move. Unless this is part of a bigger plan with additional value (doubtful) this is the sort of move that will set the franchise back years. Anyone who calls MJ cheap after this is nuts, he might suck for a variety of reasons but the team has always taken the first chance to blow cap space on massive deals for declining vets.

Absolutely no excuse whatsoever to fully guarantee all four of those year. Honestly an overpay regardless, but that just takes the cake. This is not any better than a Westbrook trade.

Rick Bonnell saying they're going to waive Batum to fit Hayward in. fwiw. stretch provision, $9M cap hit next 3 seasons.

Great move. Our draft picks need to be saved now, in the event Hayward doesn't work out. Waiving and stretching Batum means we are still going to be rebuilding.

I just realized, that with Corona, there aren't going to be fans at games this season probably.

Getting that 9th pick in secret.

With Harden and maybe even WB coming East, KD coming back healthy and Atlanta being better, this was a prime year to get another top pick.

We just couldn't help ourselves.

Stretching Batum is **** insane. I seriously hate this franchise. Instead of 27 mil coming off the books after this season we'll have 9 mil in dead cap for 3 more years and its all to facilitate this incredibly stupid Hayward signing... This franchise deserves to be the laughing stock that it is...

Nevermind, I give up. This is the same shortsighted team it's always been.

You should never stretch a massive contract that is coming off the books in a few months.

This isn't a rebuilding move, this is the team trying to contend by getting a Nic-type player and then cutting Nic from the team to make room.

Batum stretch is awful, don't mind the Hayward deal and you certainly can't give up picks. But really you can't find a taker for Rozier or Zeller, UGH

I had fun for a few days thinking this team had turned the corner and was ready to do things the right way. Things will never change until MJ is no longer the owner.

Stretching Batum is inexcusable. GG.
I don't support domestic violence. Thanks Miles
