We have a star in LaMelo and we're swinging for the fences to do something with him. What happened to my treadmill Hornets?!! I love this!

If Melo is the real deal this pick should never convey and we should give up 2 seconds.

you have it backwards. The pick will convey when we are a good team. If the pick never conveys it means we never got out of mediocrity

Who is the best big man coach in the world today?

We need to be on the phone with them right now to employ them to start working with Kai and Vern starting tomorrow.

Kai and Vern, with the right tutelage, could be an outstanding big man duo.

Yeah sorry I don't know what I was thinking. It's almost definitely going to convey this year or next.

So we took a prospect I was pretty low on and then traded a future 1st for my least favorite prospect in the draft. Ya'll better hope I completely misread this draft.

That's outstanding.

With some health and luck next season, they will get it next year and it will be in the 20's.

Then, as we've seen tonight, Mitch can acquire a late 1st next year on draft night to replace it.

Knicks gave up the 19th pick and the best it can be a year later is the 19th pick...

Also traded 21, they did not love the board.

Yikes, sorry dude. Here's hoping Mitch keeps his hot streak alive.

I can definitely see not loving the picks, but I'm willing to give Mitch the benefit of the doubt

The protection aspect of this deal is pretty cool, though. Should have told them to take Jalen Johnson for us at 19 though since he might actually have a clue how to play basketball.

Mason is the perfect stopgap at Center while Kai and Carey develop. And we moved up 20 spots in the draft to improve our center unit in the process. Mitch is good. Really good.

If they work, we significantly increased our ceiling.

If not....we drafted Monk and Vonleh all over again.

I agree I'm not super high on who we drafted. A one way undersized scorer with passing and shooting question marks and an athlete that barely knows how to play.

Wait, this is still the Charlotte Hornets/Bobcats here, right? My mind is blown. We're finally playing chess and not checkers.

Yeah but that would be at the expense of another future first or good player. Kai Jones better pan out but I have my doubts.

I don't like taking extreme stances on drafts because we all know so little and its very hard to predict how any of these guys will really pan out, but my gut reaction is to literally grade this draft a D or F.

Seems like a decent chance we just downgraded going from Monk to Bouknight and then threw a future 1st in the trash.
