Next year's team needs to do something like this to clear out the bad vibes.

This team is usually asleep at the wheel, but they really need to be looking for a consolidation trade. The Bulls are a prime trade partner. They'd probably want too much for Lavine, but DeRozan should be relatively gettable. Since the Bulls don't have any picks and are short on depth I think they'd seriously consider an offer of Rozier, Bouknight/Kai, and the Denver pick.

I like Rozier, but he's such a horrible defensive fit next to LaMelo. DeRozan isn't that much better, but he's still an upgrade. And he'd help us with one of our biggest offensive weaknesses - getting to the basket and drawing fouls. He's an upgrade over Rozier that won't break the bank.

melo + mason out
mark and dsj in (anchors at front and back of def)
= improved defense

small sample, melo + mark was looking ok
trick is finding that PoA defender next to melo, eith dsj, cody or similar. it absolutely cannot be melo, terry next year as starting backcourt

Wasn't sure where to post this, but it might be better if the pick they owe San Antonio conveys next season. The 2024 draft class is supposed to be one of the worst in a long time. I think if it doesn't convey for 2025 then it becomes two 2nds, but if they still can't make the playoffs in two seasons then that probably means they blew this years draft pick and probably have much bigger problems.

I don't buy too much into the pre-forecasted "best drafts of all time" or "worst drafts of all time". Usually every draft has at least a few elite players and some really good role players.

The only drafts that super, super sucked were 1986 and 2000 that I can think of, and even they had some decent picks for astute teams.

I hope the front office is scouting the league for consolidation trade opportunities. Jamal Murray with the Nuggets is a good target, they need an infusion of cheap depth and we can provide that. Rozier, Kai/Thor, Bouknight, their pick back, and a 2nd rounder seems fair.

This deal is awful for the Nuggets. Murray averages 20 and shots 40% from deep and they are the 1 seed, why would they trade their second best player???? Especially for a bunch of guys that may not even be rotation guys except Terry.

Murray isn't the same player he was pre-injury. He's better than Rozier, but the gap isn't massive. If he was still that player the Nuggets wouldn't fall apart whenever Jokic isn't playing.

Crazy town time...

Let's say we get the #1 pick. Would you trade 1 + Gordo to OKC for Shai + Chet?

I think Wemby could bust due to his frame, but I worry 10x more strongly about that with Chet.

SGA makes it semi-tempting, but I'd demand SGA plus the better 1/3 of Sam Presti's war chest of 17 future 1st round picks over the next six years.

At a glance that would be:

SGA
2023 1st OKC
2024 1st Houston
2024 1st LAC
2025 1st better of Houston or LAC
2026 1st Houston
2026 1st LAC

It's an insane haul, granted, but OKC has to consolidate those picks to some degree anyway. They still have 11 picks between 2023 and 2029 left even after this and their entire core minus SGA. If they don't want to pay out the nose I'll take my chances with the generational talent we've never had.

I think I'd do it. Give me the borderline MVP candidate that has yet to fully enter his prime and fits like a glove next to Melo + Chet.

Chet and Wemby both have body types that suggest injury potential. Shai tips the scales for me, I think he'd be perfect for us.

What are folks thoughts on Nick Nurse? Would you want him if he was an option for next season?

I'm not very knowledgeable about Nurse, but his reputation is stellar and hes always seemed very good as far as I could tell. He seems like hed be a good choice. Might need to get Wemby for him to consider Charlotte.

This obviously isn't evidence of anything, but realgm likes him. Here are his rankings in the last four years of the annual coaching value index poll.

I'm eager to move on from Cliff so it doesn't take much to entice me, but Nurse would be a top-tier replacement. I'd be both stunned and thrilled if he chose us over all the other offers he'd surely receive.
