To be clear, I was defensive about the way you posted, not about your disagreement with my opinion. I'm fine if you completely disagree, and acknowledged in my own post that I wouldn't bet on it.

SWedd523 wrote:He doesn't have anywhere near the ball handling, anywhere near the passing, anywhere near the rebounding, anywhere near the scoring. Their games are nothing alike. There is quite literally nothing that should allow you to draw a straight line between the two other than them being unathletic white dudes.

The more I read about him the less this seems true. Maybe you're right, maybe you're not. I'm not exactly invested in him and don't actually care what he turns into, I'm just saying there does seem to be interesting similarities.

I made the specific post after watching this -

SWedd523 wrote:Mock it if you like I guess but you're doing nobody any favors with statements like that

I didn't mock you, I gave a specific explanation for my argument. You didn't, which is what I found annoying.

Again, I tend to think consensus is right on him and I wouldn't feel comfortable betting on him, I just don't think it's impossible that he has higher upside.

Country music thing might be a deal breaker for the locker room. Unless he can talk Miles into producing country-rap fusion, otherwise it's not gonna work.

Agree with Yosemiteben here. Kon is a quality player, who performed at a high level facing the toughest college competition in the nation…as a freshman. He carried that Duke team in the ACC Tournament. I also want to see if they release any common measure workout data. But you know any team bringing him in for a workout will put him through those to gauge speed, quickness, leaping, etc.

Knipple is not my pick at 4, but some team will take him not far after.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

I agree with everything that’s been said here. My only addition is that Knipple’s ball-handling is pretty solid. he was killing teams with the pick and roll. It’s not Luka-level, but he can definitely initiate the offense

Kon averaged 2.7 apg, 4 rpg, 14.4 ppg.

Duke had no point guard this year and Sion James became their point guard, not Kon. Imagine Luka-lite playing off ball because the team has Sion James. None of the Kon takes make any sense to me. Sion averaged more assists and more rebounds per game than Kon, but yet I am supposed to believe he is some triple double threat do it all wing just hiding in plain sight?

but hey let's ignore 90% of the season and look at the one game Kon played without Flagg vs a terrible Georgia Tech team. Newsflash the ACC was terrible, 4 teams made the tourney and 3 of them lost in the round of 64.

There are soooo many red flags for him that so many people are ignoring.
- Doesn't draw fouls
- Poor rebounder for his size
- Assists low for a guy getting sold as a playmaker at the next level
- Profiles as bad athlete
- Measured smaller than listed with a terrible wingspan
- Profiles as a poor defender
- Doesn't shoot 3s off the dribble
- 2 Dunks all year on 5 attempts
- Limited handle
- limited tape of him changing direction

vs the positives
- great catch and shoot 3
- nice kid
- good free throw shooter
- low turnover
- good weight

lol, especially since I don't think he is getting drafted at 4 anyway.
If we trade back though......

VJ/Ace/Tre

Everyone else seems unrealistic.

I do not want us to draft him, but I wouldn't be pissed like I was last year when we took Salaun. Hes definitely a sleeper pick.

It’s not out of the question that we’d trade back, to be fair.

tbf JP drafted a guy last draft that didnt have a thread here till the day of the draft or so iirc
probably should hedge yourselves and not fall in love with one guy. Kon is 100% in play for us at 4

He's in the group of 4 players who we could realistically draft. And at least 3 of these guys will definitely be available.

Tre/VJ/Ace/Kon

And you can make the argument that he's the best fit offensively with this current group we have. 3pt shooting/secondary ball handler.

Return to Charlotte Hornets
