which brings me to my guiltiest pleasure of all... american idol. i love me some AI. i am not a pop radio person... hate it, but still love the show. we always do an AI pool at work. makes for some hilarious banter before and after each episode. nothing entertains me like yelling at the tv during AI when its not one of my people.

my other fav reality shows:

survivor
americas next top model
any of the real world/road rules challenge/gauntlet etc... type shows.
last comic standing
apprentice
beauty and geek
anything w/ megan (from rock of love - that girl is a mess)
true life i'm a moron

so, yes... i watch awful tv.

I run a pool at work for AI and Survivor. It's sweet.

I'm shattered. They are not running a Canadian Idol this year. Something about budget cuts at the station.

As much as I love AI, is still doesn't touch the BEST singing reality show of all time.

Rockstar Inxs.

That show was the king. Jordis Unga. What a voice. Marty Casey with Trees. JD and Pretty Vegas - not to mention Suzie McNeil, Ty Taylor good Lord, they all rocked.

Best "talent search based show ever. The follow up with Tommy Lee, Gilby Clarke and Jason Newsted forming Super Nova was also awesome.

It was -40 here the other day and we had about 10" of snow. It seems like we get 10" of snow every other day.

Haha, dude same thing happened to me and my roommate. I snuck out late last night and got him with a snowball on the couch while he was playing a game. So this morning it was on when I came downstairs. That's right snowball fight that started in da house!!

Ok so Lost premieres tomorrow night!! Will anyone else be watching? I know I can't be the only one and I'd hope that more than just me and Walt have caught Battlestar before.

I've never seen a single episode of Lost. I don't have anything against it's viewers or or anything, just haven't taken the effort to catch up on it's many seasons and I didn't get convinced I'd be into it until season 2 or 3... I'll get to it one day.

Anyone watch Life? I didn't have any idea about it until my sister and her fiance highly recommended it. Since they had turned me on to BSG and Joss Whedon's shows, I figured it was worth checking out when I had some free time and it's only in the middle of season 2. I watched season 1 over the last week and a half and it's great. Well done character development so far, generally interesting story line and to cap it off (as a huge fan of Deadwood) well done cameos.

Hmm i have not heard of Life. So it's a Joss Whedon show cause I loved Firefly? That's peaked my interest. How many episodes are in a season and what's it about? Also I love Deadwood so seeing some of those characters make cameos again would be nice.

As for Lost I think if you like BSG you'd like it for sure. The characters in the show are great and they probably do the best job of not contradicting themselves (which is hard sometimes in a long running serial style show) or compromising their characters just to get something out of a particular episode. The 2nd season was probably my least favorite of the 4 because of the amount of questions they kept adding on top of other unanswered questions plus they were dragging it out a bit. In season 3 and 4 they changed that up though. They started answering a good amount of the ongoing questions and any new ones they put out there usually get checked off the list at the end of the season. Of course there are still some ongoing things that you'll just be waiting for but that is the fun of it all and it's not quite as daunting as it seemed it would be after season 2. :) Also another plus is the seasons are down to about 16 episodes per year which I think is a good balance so that there is less "filler" types so to speak.

Also just in case no one has ever mentioned it, Alias is another one that is great. The first two seasons might be some of my favorite TV ever. You can really just watch it stand alone because the major plot points involving the characters life's from the pilot are wrapped up by the end of season 2. (i won't get into that but the pilot honestly has more going on than most movies do.) Again great characters in this show and it's just plain badass because it's spy stuff with a hot chick to watch every episode. The overall plot that spans over the whole 5 seasons never quite pans out the way you'd like but in at least the first 3 years it's extremely interesting stuff based off of an old 14th century nostrodmus/leonardo da vinci type character called Rambaldi that was doing things in his time that were just unheard of. The guy was capable in automatism, life extension, protein engineering, mathematics, cryptography and cartography. He predicted the digital information age, invented a machine code language, cryptographic algorithms etc.... From the beginning of the show his artifacts are scattered all over and are being collected for some unknown purposes and they act as mcguffins in the show.

Sorry Chab, I made a confusing sentence once I added Whedon to it. Life isn't a Whedon story, but it was suggested to me by the people that introduced me to BSG and Whedon's shows (Firefly...then I eventually caved and watched Buffy. I'll admit it, since it's a surprisingly good show--that's a post for another time though). Since I mentioned Whedon though, want to make sure you're aware that he has a new show debuting on 2/13 on Fox () called Dollhouse. Eliza Dushku is the main character and Helo is involved prominently from what I've read.

Life is about this cop (played by Damian Lewis--the guy from Band of Brothers) that goes to jail for 12 years for the murder of his business partner + wife and son. DNA evidence eventually exonerates him and he sues LAPD for an undisclosed amount of money (~50 mill) but asks to be reinstated. The 12 years in between police work have influenced Crews (the cop) in a multitude of ways (the isolation/criminalization of an unjust incarceration in general and zen philosophy that he was introduced to), so he's a really interesting lead character. As could be expected, Crews is obsessed with finding the actual perpetrator that killed his friends/partially ruined his life, but their are a couple of things keeping him from diving in full force (he's a homicide detective--so those cases, aspects of his settlement, newfound zen ideals). I haven't watched many cop series, so I don't know how it stacks up, but as a show about dealing with hardships/how they affect you/how you can deal, it's really good. In writing up this pp, I don't think I did a great job of selling it and it probably sounds like a lot of other shows, but I think it'd sell itself if you watched an episode of two because Crews is such a great character. There are a lot of Deadwood actors that I've recognized--Calamity Jane, Harry from Swearengen's, Farnum, Jack McCall/Francis Walcott) and season one consists of 11 episodes.

Lost is definitely on my series to watch list, but ahead of it I have to finish Sopranos and catch up on 30 rock. Then I'll probably start on The Wire, because I've only ever heard great things. So if nothing jumps into that list ahead of it, I'll be getting to lost in a year or so. :D

Alias sounds awesome!!
