Lol, yeah, well, the team did start the year pretty nicely before Al's injury.

Per Coach Cliff: Big Al went through his first full-contact practice today and will play on Friday if the next few days go well at practice.

Let's hope they are not rushing him back the way they did Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. Like others, I have to wonder at some of the decisions made on this team with respect to injuries and playing time.

Didn't he already come back once and got injured again?

Not good......

post assumes no trades to any rotation player.

So how will Al get re-integrated into the team. I think he's coming in on the 2nd unit, not starting immediately. What to do about the Batum-Cody connection in the long term? Break it up and put Cody back in the bridge (off-bench, bridge to 2nd unit)? And if Al plays in the 2nd unit, won't that create a different flow, speed to it and maybe take away some of Lin's penetration?

Assuming Al is as good as he says he is and will play for the rest of the season, any thoughts on his reintegration? Cliff said barring any setbacks, he plays this weekend.

Al has missed too much time this season. I can't see him working himself into anything resembling game shape until late March. Wouldn't be surprised if he's coming off the bench for the rest of the season *fingers crossed*

Big Al says his knee is as healthy as it has been in over a year. I guess Zeller will be heading to the bench soon.

Is this speculation or was something said about the situation?

I actually said to the GF last game that I thought it looked like Big Al had beefed up a bit since the start of the season after he dropped all that weight.

The healthy knee part was a quote. I was speculating about Zeller.

I just saw an article, people saying how weed can help one be healthy and lose weight. Him being scared of being suspended might have something to do with this.

Weed helps people lose weight??? That's a new one. Also there are plenty of other ways Al could lose weight without the fear of getting suspended. He just chooses not to do those.

Awesome. If someone from the organization was already talking about starting Al again I would be greatly disturbed lol.

http://www.charlotteobserver.com/sports/nba/charlotte-hornets/article64685742.html

“I’ve been telling people all week I kind of like coming off the bench,” Jefferson said. “You kind of see how the game is going and you get to play against the backup center most of the time. You kind of know what you need to do or what you shouldn’t do, and I kind of like it.

“Cody (Zeller) starts the game off well. He’s a great defensive center, and we have enough scoring in there among the starters.

“If coach wants me back in the starting lineup, I’d be fine with that. But off the bench, I’m fine with that right now, getting myself in better shape.”

This is great - I've always loved the idea of Al as the king of the bench.

Al's future in the league is as a scorer off the bench. Kudos to him for recognizing that and embracing the role.

Kudos to Al for embracing his new role.

That might be the nicest thing you've said about Big Al.

Ever!!
