ive watched it about 20 times on repeats. the comments on the nba reddit about this are overwhelming, universally agreed filthiest play in a long time.

Secret Sauce: The Terry Rozier Thread
Funny, because I’ve shared that TRo’s game reminds me of Jackson’s in so many ways:
Although TRo isn’t as irrationally reckless with the ball as Jackson was at times.

Re: Secret Sauce: The Terry Rozier Thread
Thinking about his defense so I looked up his draft report.

Oh how the turns table.
http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Terry-Rozier-58730/
While Rozier's improved offensive efficiency is encouraging, the reason he was drafted was first and foremost due to the impact he has on the defensive end of the floor. He is a physical defender with a 6'8 wingspan who can take opposing guards out of there rhythm with pesky on ball defense, and he showed that in summer league action as well.
Rozier best attribute as a pro prospect is his tenacious defense, evidenced most by his 2.2 steals per 40 minutes which he gets by using his length and anticipation skills to play the passing lanes and lead to easy baskets. He has the potential to defend either guard spot with his 6-8 wingspan and is a pest on the ball, pressuring the ball incessantly on every possession. He moves his feet exceptionally well to stay in front of dribble penetration and his strength prevents him from being bumped out of position. He does so without fouling, averaging just 1.7 fouls per game, which is impressive considering how aggressively he plays.
Oh how the turns table.

Re: Secret Sauce: The Terry Rozier Thread
Serious question: Is TRo the best SG of the modern Charlotte era (2004 and beyond)?
He’s obviously better than guys like Rush, Anderson, Lee, a washed Smith, Bell, Hughes, Stephenson etc.
He’s better than Henderson, Jackson, Gordon, Belinelli, Monk etc.
Richardson had a pretty nice couple of years there, but I’m not sure anyone touches TRo for best SG.
Maybe I’m suffering from recency bias though?

Tier 1 is definitely Rozier, Jackson, Jason Richardson. Nobody else gets anywhere close. I couldn't begin to put them in order though.
I kind of want to put Stephen Jackson first.

me too because i loved his intangibles so much.
Even with the random drunk game, i feel like he brought more to the table on a nightly basis

Re: Secret Sauce: The Terry Rozier Thread
I thought about Jackson, but he was just so erratic.
He’d do some things that were just awesome, but other times he’d do some of the most bone headed things that really hurt the team. He was too confident in his abilities IMO - over confident with his abilities Vs his actual skills at times.
Agreed on the intangibles though. He was a fighter and a scrapper and had swag - and brought that swag to the entire team.
I remember commenting at the time I doubted anyone in the NBA was better than him shooting a 3 when there was a hard close out baring down on them. Jackson just didn’t give a ****. He either had nerves of steel or, like I said, was just over confident in himself.
He was, after all, self proclaimed to “make love to pressure” I guess?

this forum says the same kind of thing about Rozier after 1 or 2 bad games
Stack was better defensively for sure, i think there's an argument for either

Re: Secret Sauce: The Terry Rozier Thread
I just imagine Jackson grabbing up one of the youngsters when they're out there jerking off acting like a bunch of kids, not playing D, being lazy (all the **** we erroneously blame Coach for)
A lot of the dumb **** the guys get away with because there's no vet would be worked out having Jack around. The team would be better with him than Rozier, despite putting up worse numbers

Isn't it primarily the head coach's job to reign in "youngsters when they're out there jerking off acting like a bunch of kids, not playing D, being lazy"?
Yes, we need more on-court accountability/discipline from players, but this doesn't mean we don't need more from the sidelines as well. Not either-or.
Terry definitely can stake a claim as the best Hornets SG ever. Agree with Stack and J Rich being in the mix.

Re: Secret Sauce: The Terry Rozier Thread
my sg rankings 2004+
1. jax - just for size/def edge over terry, but really wasnt huge fan
2. terry - spring terry #1 tho, just so undersized on d, but plays bigger
3. jrich - didnt add any ballhandling/playmaking/defense, if all you need is shooting, then...
4. lee - perfect role playing 3/d
5. bell - very similar to lee
6. hendo - if only he didnt refuse to shoot 3s
7. carroll - hammer
8. beli - did his job to stretch d, underrated passer
9. monk - best attribute was getting to rim, just too inconsistent
10. d anderson - purely for leadership
the rest can get ****

It’s time to move on from Terry. Great player in the wrong role here. He will have value across the league and we need to get bigger, stronger and more defensive. Imagine having a bigger SG to pair with LaMelo in the back court I will die on this hill.

I would love to have 3 years of Brogdon over 4 years of Terry. But I would be okay with one year of Westbrook plus 50 million dollars (97-47). Rozier is not a next level player but he's paid to be one. No reason to remain in denial 4 more years about his limitations on defense.
It has been written...

I'd love a larger defensive guard that can at least kinda make plays for others, allowing a 3-man guard rotation of that guy, LaMelo, and Terry together.
