Re: 2016 Scavenger Hunt Draft (YB's pick)
Now that my starting lineup is fixed, I need a jack of all trades player to come off the bench.
With my Southpaw pick (again), I'm selecting Anthony Mason's 1996-97 season here in Charlotte. Unsurprisingly given Charlotte's lack of league wide recognition and with more eyes on Glenn Rice's performance that season, Mason did not receive any All Star consideration despite posting a line of 16.2 points, 11.4 boards, and 5.7 assists for a Hornets team that won 54 games. Mason that season was essentially the 90s version of Draymond Green.
I can plug Mason in at C, PF next to LeBron, or SF in place of LeBron without losing any rebounding and keeping a nice playmaker in the lineup for our shooters.

Re: 2016 Scavenger Hunt Draft (YB's pick)
With the sixth pick in the Scavenger Hunt Draft I select....

Hoosier - George McGinnis 1976-77 - 21.4PPG, 11.5RPG, 3.8APG, 2.1SPG, All-NBA 2nd.
Hell of a player to pick in the sixth round. McGinnis was a guy way ahead of his time and that's why he fits so well on this team. I desperately wanted a 4 who won't clog the lane way too much so Hakeem has all the space he needs. And, well, let me tell you about Big George McGinnis...
At 6-8 and 235 pounds (per bk-ref) he was the LeBron of the 70s. He had the body of a big, hypothetically played the power forward spot, yet would bring the ball up the court and feel comfortable on the perimeter. There's a reason why the video in this post is titled "McGinnis Was LeBron in 1976!". The dude averaged 12.9 rebounds per game in his ABA career, as well as did the ball handling for the Pacers with 8.2 (!!!!) assists per game in eighteen 1974-75 playoffs games. That season he was first in points, third in assists and fifth in rebounds in the league. The legitimacy of those stats notwithstanding (because of two leagues existing at that time), it shows his versatility. Either way, he proved his worth after the merger as well.
Another very capable passer, a fluid outside player, made 62 threes back in 74-75 on .354 3P% (tied for 2nd in the league, unthinkable for a 6-8, 235-pounder) - just the player I need for my power forward spot. This guy could fall off the moon as the 70s version of himself in 2016 and find a place for himself in the league.
All the players who can create and pass should also ease the load off McGinnis's shoulders (he tended to overtry with the ball) and limit his turnovers as well.
PG: Gary Payton 1999-00 - 24.2PPG, 6.5RPG, 8.9APG, 1.9SPG, 177 3s (league leader), All-Defense 1st, All-NBA 1st.
SG: Grant Hill 1994-95 - 19.9PPG, 6.4RPG, 5.0APG, 1.8SPG, 0.9BPG, All-Star, ROY.
SF: Chris Mullin 1989-90 - 25.1PPG, 5.9RPG, 4.1APG, 1.6SPG, .372 3P%, All-NBA 3rd.
PF: George McGinnis 1976-77 - 21.4PPG, 11.5RPG, 3.8APG, 2.1SPG, All-NBA 2nd.
C: Hakeem Olajuwon 1989-90 - 24.3PPG, 14.0RPG, 2.9APG, 2.1SPG, 4.6BPG, All-Defense 1st, All-NBA 2nd.
Bench:
Tracy McGrady 2003-04 - 28.0PPG, 6.0RPG, 5.5APG, 174 3s (.339 3P%), All-NBA 2nd.

The most interesting side-note about McGinnis is that his left hand almost didn't touch the ball when he shot jumpers. Just look at the first shot he takes in the second video I posted.
Such a unique and quirky release.

Lamar, what category are you using for McGinnis? Don't see it in your post, but may have missed it.

Came so so close to picking McGinnis with my last two picks, but felt I couldn't wait any longer on Moses. Watched a lot of his videos yesterday.

A good time for a story from the past. Here's the time Walter Davis testified before the grand jury about other players using drugs in a nasty NBA scandal:

Nooooo Walter was my sleeper. Never thought anyone other than Lamar was going to take him seriously. Damn you flip. Man, two picks in a row.

and he had such a good rookie year, to boot. it might be even his best career year. long gone are the days when four year seniors enter the NBA and are instantly on All-NBA teams. Phoenix had Alvan Adams (All-Star) and Davis (All-NBA 2nd) in the matter of three years.
it also seems like he wasn't yet the mess he became in the 80s due to drugs. Halberstam in Breaks of the Game:

Re: 2016 Scavenger Hunt Draft (Coolio's pick)
Well, it looks like I will further delay my role players. Might as well have an elite backup PG since somehow he isn't taken yet. He had a really incredible year in 93. If only MJ didn't exist in that year.
1992-1993 Mark Price as the Closer. Winner of 3 PT contest (he beat Bird, MJ, and Reggie). All Star, All-NBA 1st Team, 18.2 ppg, 8.0 apg, 48% FG, 41% 3PT 94.8% FT (!!)
PG: John Stockton (1992; Dream Team, 2nd team all NBA, 2nd team all Defense, 15.8 ppg, 13.7 apg, 3.0 spg, 50/40/84 %)
SG: Kobe Bryant (2008; NBA MVP, 1st team all NBA, 1st team all Defense, 28.3 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 5.4 apg, 1.8 spg)
SF:
PF: Kevin McHale (1984; All-Star, 6th MOTY 18.4 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 1.5 bpg. 55% FG)
C: Tim Duncan (1998; All-Star, 1st team all NBA, 2nd team all Defense, Rookie of the Year, 21.1 ppg, 11.9 rpg, 2.5 bpg, 2.9 apg, 55% FG)

This **** can't be happening again. I mean. It's my backup PG but damn if I can't help but get sniped almost every time right before my pick.
At some point y'all just aren't gonna believe me haha.
