Minott was my pick in last years draft.

Drew Peterson could be a 2nd round thought. He kinda reminds me of Brandon Miller and Gradey Dick combined.

I don't want Scoot or Vw but if I had to pick one of the two I would pick
Spoiler:
neither

I really like this kid a lot. His name is Bryson Warren. He is doing good stat wise in the G league. I really like his connection to God. I will consider him 2nd round.

Is this just because you inherently don't want the best players (or at least players that are widely perceived to be the best players) or do you have some other reason?

If I was in charge and we had the number two pick I'd also hesitate to take Scoot. We already have our lead playmaker and we need to get away from pairing him with a smaller player. I like Brandon Miller and the Thompson twins better for this team.

I actually like a lot of the guys in the latter part of the lottery almost as much as the top guys. If we could move on from Miles and trade him for a late lottery pick to a team like the Blazers or Lakers and use that pick on a guy like Gradey Dick or Dariq Whitehead (who has been playing injured all year and is a much better player than his stats indicate) that would be a home run for us.

In case that's in response to me, I was responding to the idea that he wouldn't want them at all. I assumed that's what he meant when he said if he had to pick one of them he still wouldn't pick them.

yosemiteben - Such an awesome moderator. While the other other moderators have good scense, You have DOLLARS lol.
You are valued and appreciated sir...

Well for me it's a combination of BOTH. But moreso due to me not thinking they are worth the pick.

I think for the most part, if a player truly STANDS OUT then I would want us to draft that player.

I.E. Shaquille Oneal, Lebron James etc...

I do love going AGAINST THE GRAIN but not looking foolish in doing so lol.

But imo I don't get that from Vw or Scoot.

Vw - A tad slow, oversized (probably health risk). Those are the main two factors for me.

Scoot - Undersized, no real position. Not even really that much star power imo.
I think more anthony edwards than ja morant if that.

I still think Scoot could go 2nd, just don't like him for us. I also think he could go 5th, it will just depend on how the lottery goes.

I don't think Scoot is a good fit for us, Detroit, Houston, Pacers, OKC etc...
Spurs I love for Scoot, Orlando would be a good place for Scoot as well.

I just have issue mainly with people who tell me that VO and Scoot are the same level of player and it should go 1-2 no matter what.

VO is a unicorn. He will be elite on defensive end, still give you 20+, give you spacing, give you shot creation. A true mismatch nightmare.

Scoot is a 6-2 scoring pg, with a shaky shot and is a good athlete. This is a much more common archetype.

Scoot is locked into that 2 spot. He is by far the best non-Wemby player in the draft.

And also if we get the #2 pick, we take Scoot. He is exactly what we need to fully maximize LaMelo.

I don't think we're in any shape to draft for need. That's what the Warriors did with Wiseman and that was a catastrophe. Draft the best talent available and work it out later.

I have Craig Porter JR as the best PG in the draft along with Ajay Mitchell. He will show it tonight against Marcus Sasser who has been projected in the 1st round before.

Wichita State @ 1 Houston - 7:00 PM - ESPN2 ( Craig Porter JR VS Jarice Walker, Marcus Sasser )

Craig Porter JR >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> NBA pg's..

He is easily the best PG in college ball. I hope we consider him. Sad thing is he might cool off in the 2nd half because the coach didn't take him out of the game and he has 3 fouls.

Looked up his stats and learned he's 23 years old

Why is he still in college?

I dunno. I am not one that's too high on age because the average NBA career is around 5 years and most teams only have a 5 year run at the title (if they're lucky) so I never pay THAAAT much attention to age unless it's a choice between two players and it's the deciding factor....

Craig Porter Jr has no weaknesses other than his age if that is in fact a weakness... He and Ajay Mitchell are by FAAAR the best PG's I have seen this year. Porter imo can be near franchise PG.

I think we should consider trading Melo (if we can't bring back miles) and drafting Porter and getting back a a lot of picks.

And porter jr anihalated Sasser (who is a defensive wizard) the first half

90% of the posters.... "Rozier is a good player, just a horrible fit next to LaMelo. We need a defensive shooter next to him". then....... "Who cares is he is only 6-2, scoring guard, take him and figure the rest out later. Shooting? It will improve too you have to take Scoot".

Seems like Sasser and Shead ended up outplaying the guy that would be the best pg in the NBA. He played 34 mins, so I am not sure it has anything to do with fouls.

I haven't read all of the draft pages so I was wondering what people thought of Terquavion Smith

He was my sleeper before he was on any mocks a couple year ago. I like him, but just don't see a need to draft him over others. He offers a lot but is smaller in stature to other players who offer a similar value in this draft imo. Good combo guard and can score.
