He was used horribly and has had 3 coaches already
So you’re suggesting to bring Makkanen in as a bench playing at best role playing Monk replacement?
At some, thing like $20mil per year?
Gross.

Re: 2021 Free Agency
Lauri Markkanen
+Just turned 24 - plus
+True 7 footer -plus
+Finnish - Finland is one of the best countries in the world so I consider this a plus
+Elite shooter - doesn't just take 3's - plus
+Elite corner 3 shooter - shot 54% on corner 3's last year
+Very good rebounder - plus
+Lots of 30 point games, so he can reliably score - plus
+Career very good FT shooter >80%
-Not a rim protector
-Not a passer
-Injury prone
-Doesn't set screens
Overall I think he's a huge improvement over Cody and could pair well with PJ or Kai

I seriously doubt it's close to 20. I'm thinking 3/40. We don't have the cap space to offer more.

Re: 2021 Free Agency
If it's 20m per season. Who are we trading to make space? We don't have that much available.
And he is definitely starting if he makes that much.
*cough Rozier to bench cough*

Re: 2021 Free Agency
I'd rather a 2 year prove it deal which gives us and him flexibility but understand he might not be so keen on that.

Exactly he should be grateful to get above MLE at this stage of FA.

No we don't, so there's no way that report is accurate

Lol. You must dislike Rozier a lot. Other than Lamelo and Hayward he's easily the one penciled in as a starter from day one no matter what.

No, but starting lineups with Rozier aren't balanced IMO. Miles needs to start for defense. If Miles plays PF, then we're too small. The only way to have decent size and not be bad defensively all involve Rozier being on the bench. That doesn't mean he won't play 30mpg.

Eh I think Miles is the perfect size in todays NBA at the 4 and that's his best position

Re: 2021 Free Agency
It just seems that some posters/fans get so desperate for the front office to do something, to do anything, that they start advocating for us to sign some of the most ordinary players for the most extraordinary money.
They are also the same posters/fans who will cry black and blue in 2, 3 or 4 years time when that junk contract is taking up cap space and preventing us from singing some other future FA that they desperately want.
Same posters/fans again who wanted to sign a player like Graham to a max contract half way through the 2019 season and called him junk this past week. Or wanted to pay Monk crazy money when he had to settle for a nothing contact from the Lakers.
Desperation is a stinky cologne, and sometimes this place wreaks of it.

I've advocated trading Graham for Markkanen all during last season. I've had my eye on him for a while. The Bulls have been a dumpster fire most of his career

Re: 2021 Free Agency
I would like to have Lauri and he would make PJ trade bait sooner then later. I am fine with signing him if it is like 3/40 or so. I think he is an improvement over PJ as the swing PF/C.
While PJ could still be really good his laziness in getting out of shape and his frequently slack play last year coupled with being dumb enough to fall for his ex-the gold digger personified makes me question if he would be worth paying a lot of money to in 2 years. PJ can provide depth for next year til Jones beefs up or we get a decent offer at the deadline then let a cost controlled Lauri/Jones/Thor/Carey combo take over the big bigs rotation.
But no way we should pay him over 15.

Re: 2021 Free Agency
Also last year he was apparently playing great when he suffered a shoulder injury (not a career ender) and had covid related time off -
The Bulls announced the injury Monday, saying that Markkanen has a sprained right acromioclavicular joint. He injured the joint at the top of the shoulder during Friday's loss to the Orlando Magic.
Bulls coach Billy Donovan described the injury, which happened when Markkanen was fouled by forward Gary Clark, as a "bit freakish," with Markkanen "driving to the basket, being physical."
Markkanen, 23, is averaging a career-best 19.1 points and 6.1 rebounds on 51.4% shooting in his fourth season. The 7-footer missed seven games in the season due to the NBA's health and safety protocols.
19 and 6 on 51% is pretty nice

Re: 2021 Free Agency
He seems to be a better offensive fit next to Lamelo than Cody was, so if his contact isn't drastically higher, wouldn't this be a good move?
