Re: summer fun: fantasy draft contest - done
My assumption is that there is going to be a separate voting thread, Doc. And I don't think you need to post an essay for each team, so you ought to have a standardized way to display them.
As far as I'm concerned none of you would have a chance at defending the Gasol-Nene combo. It's like Gasol-Bynum, except better.

Re: summer fun: fantasy draft contest - done
I think I have the closest thing to a superstar, the player below the players excluded by the draft. And I think Roy's improvement over the course of last season and his improvement this season puts my team over the top. Also, I got some underrated defenders, both starting and on the bench. I'm willing to bet 2k9 says Bogut's defense sucks, and has no clue who Batum or Hill are. Also Chris Anderson had great improvement last season as well, and Chauncey looked like the best PG in the league at the end of the season.
When does 2k10 come out?

Re: summer fun: fantasy draft contest - done
^I beg to differ-- LOD throws Sheed on Gasol and Boozer on Nene. Then a wave of Noah on Gasol Haywood on Nene. Lil bit of Artest and Scola sprinkled in. Not saying anyone shuts down Gasol-Nene, but me and Chab's guys keep them working. We also attack the basket relentlessly, so they'll pick up fouls, whereupon our guys keep beating up on Jamison, Kirileno, Gortat. Your team is a tough, tough matchup and probably has more talent than LOD, but I think every player in this "league" moans and groans when they see that they're up against the doombringers that night.

Maybe original 2k9 says Bogut's D sucks, but these are my rosters, so he's adjusted accordingly. It takes some real work to combine the blocks he gets with the amount of charges he takes. Batum is also a good defender... but that's kind of the only thing he does. It's true that Hill sucks, but you barely gave him any minutes anyway.
81 defense is pretty good anyway, since the best team got an 86. You're losing points because of Peja and Aldridge. Again, I would emphasize that the team ratings don't necessarily make much sense. I don't see your team as much worse than waydownsouth's, who is starting Parker and Rip Hamilton, both of whom are meh defenders.
Walt: Your backups pose a much bigger defensive threat than Boozer, who's never played much D, and Sheed, who is now 79 years old. Boozer does have the capacity to trade baskets with Gasol though... and I suppose we just differ on how good Sheed is at this point in his career. I'd probably go with Boozer/Noah when playing my team.

Sheed is still a more than capable defender when motivated. I have faith he'll prove that in Boston.

The NBA hasn't seen a wing combo like Durant and Harden since Jordan and Pippen hit their heights.
But Jordan and Pippen never had a guy like Kidd getting them easy looks.

Re: summer fun: fantasy draft contest - done
Maybe another thread with the rosters and philosophies laid out in a 1 post per team deal would help organize and clean up the things. The first post could have the 2k9 ratings and such and stats and stuff and from then on each person has their post?
Also, maybe the voting system could be to rank the other teams top-to-bottom (excluding your own) and those are assigned point values (1,2,etc)? I'd be happy to field the votes and tally them since I obviously don't have any stake in the competition.

Re: summer fun: fantasy draft contest - done
i like the idea of a seperate thread where the voting can take place... one post per team to get a clear idea.
for the voting i was thinking of everyone posting their top 3 teams... first place vote gets 3 points, second gets 2 and third gets 1. i dont think we need to rank all 9 other teams...
thats my 2 cents.
anyway... if someone wants to create the voting/team post thread tonight, that would be great. if not, i'll try to get it done tomorrow at work.

Re: summer fun: fantasy draft contest - done
Didn't get to this until now. Paydro the rotation minutes each player gets will effect the ratings a good bit in 2K9. If you just dropped the players on each team and then let the computer auto adjust the minutes it should make a difference in ratings if we give the actual number of minutes that we want our guys to play.

Re: summer fun: fantasy draft contest - done
As I noted in the post, I guessed at people's minutes. I doubt the difference will be major from what people actually want... but I just thought it was for fun, not to actually influence the voting process.
I think a post per player, explaining the whole philosophy of the team, is too crowded, personally, and might make the thread 5 pages just off of that. Just put up the team depth charts and have people rank 1-11 (excluding their own).

Re: summer fun: fantasy draft contest - done
i will post everyone's depth charts in a single post. we can rank from there.
however, i still need depth charts for the following teams: Countryboi, JDM3, Olajuwon34 and Waydownsouth.
once you 4 submit your depth charts, i'll create the final voting thread.
if i dont have depth charts by tomorrow, i'll make your depth charts for you using my best guess.

Sorry guys for the delay.... Work has been hell..
PG: Tony Parker / Aaron Brooks / Jason Williams
SG: Rip Hamilton / Courtney Lee
SF: Caron Butler / Jamario Moon / Demar Derozan
PF: Emeka Okafor / Glen Davis / David Andersen
C: Chris Kaman / Marcus Camby
IL:
Josh Shipp
Wally Szczerbiak
Coach:
Byron Scott.
The Aussie Bangers will be running the Princeton offence, hence signing Bryon Scott on as our coach.
We like the ability of our mid range, but this team is built for defence, and hard rebounding. Enter the lane at your own risk.
We like our second unit, which can really up the tempo if required. Our pieces are interchangeable and you'll see different combinations depending on opposition matchups.

I know we didn't draft for numbers but what do you think now? (I admitt I couldn't remember all my players I actually picked and needed to dig for help via this thread.)
make me to look back and bump thjis thread (I can't find the voting one).fatlever wrote:that really puts a dent in my "summer fun fantasy team". i was already thin up front. thank god carl landry has turned out to be a beast.

what do i think?
i think a starting lineup of...
pg: andre miller
sg: paul pierce
sf: carmelo anthony
pf: anderson varejao
c: andrea bargnani
with a bench of...
shane battier, carl landry, boris diaw, juan carlos navarro and dj augustin
.... would be unstoppable, even without griffin.
but then again, i am biased.
