His weaknesses starting at the 5:55 mark are the reasons why I'm skeptical of McLemore, especially the creating offense segment. He's like a clone of Hendo with better range.

But that better range will carry him a long way in the NBA. Rookie guards suffer a significant drop in shooting percentage and 3-pt percentage because obviously the line is further back and defenders are more skilled. McLemore is an NBA shooter right now. His raw athleticism and size will bring along the rest of his game. Henderson is not in the same league.

I'm having a hard time picking between Bazz and McLemore if either can attack like Harden and get to the line in crunch time it would be welcome.

If we can walk out of this draft with McLemore and Bennett, and rebrand as the hornets, the nest will be reborn.

It's still too early to tell, but from what I've seen, these two guys seem to be the most aggressive out of the current crop of top 15 prospects and have the talent to back it up

I'd rather use our cap space to pickup a big than draft one this year.. they take too long to develop if they aren't freak manchild beasts like shaq, dwight, duncan, or yao... and I don't see anyone like that in 2013, so I haven't bothered paying attention to any bigs

No way we get both you better pray for one or the other.

I must say that I would be very disappointed if we drafted Ben McLemore over Shabazz Muhammad or Anthony Bennett if we had the choice in this upcoming draft. If we're going to build through the draft I want for us to select transcending talent instead of sufficient talent. McLemore would be the definition of sufficient talent meaning enough to meet the needs of a situation or a proposed end while Muhammad and Bennett are transcending talents meaning that they have the ability to rise above or go beyond the limits of expectations.

McLemore was ranked 49th overall and 15th among his position by ESPN in the class of 2011.

Muhammad was ranked 2nd overall and 1st among his position by ESPN in the class of 2012.

Bennett was ranked 7th overall and 1st among his position by ESPN in the class of 2012.

Klay Thompson was ranked 52nd in the 2008 class, Mully was number 5; things change.

More recently Rivers was ranked over MKG, Beal, and Cody Zeller.

EDIT: Hell even Terrelle Pryor was ranked in the top 40 in 2008.

Exactly. Klay Thompson is sufficient talent, not transcending.

MKG and Beal were ranked in the top 10 though.

Samardo Samuels was ranked 2nd that year with Mully and Thompson, is he transcendent? I know Avery Bradley topped that list one year as well. Not trying to be a jerk, but I don't think High School recruiting ranks are a good inclination of who will "transcend" at the next level.

I agree that high school recruiting rankings aren't the end all-be all of guarantees when evaluating NBA potential but you'd be hard pressed to name me a superstar in today's NBA that wasn't a top 10 ESPN recruit.

I saw a few...granted they only have lists up since 2007 but among those were Griffin (18) and Harden (21) in 2007, and it's too early to call any of them superstars but Monroe (20, Thompson (52), and our own Kemba (14) were outside that top 10 ranking in 2008. I suppose it's a fair point though, there are definitely not that many that come from outside the top 10 but my point was that there were several top guys that underperformed as well. I certainly prefer Shabazz to McLemore, but I wouldn't be upset with either.

I said "superstar". Blake Griffin might be the closest to being considered as such but he's no superstar, just a all-star.

Note: Dwyane Wade might be the only exception of my statement over the past decade.

Westbrook was 66 in his class. It is rare but it happens.

The other thing to consider is how many top 10 guys become only average NBA players.

Good one. I almost forgot about Russell Westbrook as an exception. He was a late bloomer. Westbrook is definitely a superstar in today's NBA by being voted all-pro the past 2 seasons.

to clarify, we do owe OKC (or perhaps they have traded it by now) our 2013 2nd round pick for the Byron Mullens trade...correct?

Ive seen Bonnel and others talk about our 2nd round pick this year as though we still have it. would be nice to get another higher 2nd rounder back. those are very underrated picks in my opinion.

We probably need Nerlens Noel the most out of anybody but something about him scares me.

i'm actually becoming more comfortable with noel each time i see him. i like his size and i think he will be a solid rebounder at the next level, and he will tyson chandler his way to 12ppg minimum very soon.

here's a question, not sure if its been posed in this thread already: if given the choice, and they were both in this draft (unfortunately you can't put the toothpaste back in the tube and forget what drummond has done this year in the NBA), noel, or drummond?
