i am super pumped for provodnikov vs matthsse. it should be a war and i think provodnikov wins but no way that is a decision.

i still think provodnikov got the short end of the molina decision and he should have gotten paq, which would have been a great fight.

The Charlotte Independence home opener is tonight. I know nothing about soccer but I'll probably go and check them out.

pretty cool for you they are playing their 1st season at UNCC. I am looking forward to going to a few games once they move to memorial stadium (although parking around there is not ideal).

Asking this since I would be lying if I said that I'm not afraid about the threat Russia could be against Latvia.

It seems like the average American doesn't care about much more than selfies and tinder these days.

both situations are somewhat dicey as far as military presence goes. Current attitudes towards overseas intervention are very negative so a large show of force isn't really something you could count on (especially in Russia's case) as the politics are too treacherous to make such a move.

I wouldn't hold my breath for American help in Russia's case if I were you unless Putin does something big time.

Is the feeling that the government exploits young and helpless 20-year-olds when enlisting them in overseas intervention tasks?

Well, for what it's worth, you have increased your military presence in the Baltics.

Parking here isn't great either. I hope to make it out to a handful of them, not sure though at $20 a game.

EDIT: Thought this was the OT thread.

It is not as bad as some people tend to act when looked at as a whole. When cost of living is actually taken into account the teachers in NC fall somewhere in the middle of the pack in the country. A few years ago a number of teachers were bailing to go to Ohio for an extra couple grand a year when where they were going had an additional three grand a year cost of living giving them a net -$1000 cut. Teachers are not paid what they deserve anywhere but I have never had an issue as a teacher in this state. I think if the new budget passes that there is a raise for teachers coming as well in NC.

Well uh, no not to me since I'm here willingly lol

Most of the focus with guys near me seems to be on the continued ISIS threat. I have several buddies either over there now or training up to head over in the next few months. From what I can tell though, it's been pushed with less of a combat-specific slant and more of a "We're just here to train these friendly guys how to fight".

I'm pretty sure it's the same in the Baltic nations and other former soviet states. It's much less publicized for fear of a "New Cold War" and all that jazz. There is also a lot of worldwide political pressure in the way of any legitimate US/Russia confrontations

Dion **** Waiters' last second rebound just cost me a fantasy championship. It literally came down to the last play of the season.

Just a random note I saw on a story about the 12 remaining players drafted in the 90s.

"There are five current players in the NBA who were born after Garnett was drafted. They are: Dante Exum, James Young, Noah Vonleh, Aaron Gordon and Bruno Caboclo."

Crazy.

Damn. Last week if someone told me Wrestlemania 31 was better then 30, I would of called them insane. Bravo WWE for making a great show despite that trainwreck of a build up to it.

Would have been even better if it wasn't day light.

watching the 2011 All-American game. Cody was a twig back then, PJ looks weird with no beard and MKGs jumper is worlds different than it is now. it actually looked decent

I april fools'd my kid brother hard today. He's been agonizing over the new girl at the office and he dug into her social media and found a picture of her "sucking face" with a guy on her FB and he was disgusted. He needs constant (and very specific) instructions on how to approach her and hook her. He lacks basic communication skills. So I texted him today that I google imaged pics he sent to me of her and found she was posting on a lesbian dating site. He said "but she was sucking face with a guy on her FB!" He had already mentioned that weeks ago so I respond "I know, weird." And he says "Maybe she's bi." Then I text back, "or just curious."

He is alone in the office with her late tonight he said, with her right now as we speak. I won't tell him the prank until April 2nd.

I hated it at first but its grown on me. Especially the easy shortcuts to my team's scores and news and fantasy teams on the left. And the twitter-like feed on the right. Good on them for evolving with the times. ESPN is my go-to sports site (besides RealGM) because of how integrated they are and trying to be like with apps like IFTTT.

By the way, any of you android or iphone users need to make downloading IFTTT a priority. You can get breaking Hornets/Panthers news, reminder that the game is about to start, etc sent as a notification or a text to your phone. Or even a phone call, haha. And it has a lot of other wonderful uses, especially if you are trying to make your home more smart connected like me. Like for instance, IFTTT controls my home's thermostat and when I leave my house, it automatically shuts off my heating/cooling...based on my phone's location services knowing it left my house.

I've been meaning to set up IFTTT for like 6 months and I've just never got around to it haha

Here is my vintage bicycle I'm trying to trade for a kayak. They're big anywhere along the coast and in Asheville.
