after Klay's rookie season, it is a known secret that splash brothers are the best shooting backcourt in NBA... he did not develop anyone, he emphasized defense, i will give him that... Mike Malone helped a lot on those young guys...
do not think he can do a better job than coach clifford...
Jackson and Rivers are the type of coaches who can galvanize players to play, but they don't have x and o s to be a good coach...
no Jackson...
find someone like snyder and stevens instead

If Atlanta and Budenholzer part ways, any interest?

I guess developed may not be the correct term.

He didn't get in the way of the players success. If Klay was drafted by the Hornets, he'd barely see the floor his first year.

I look at players like Malik Monk, Jeremy Lamb, and Frank Kaminsky, and think they would benefit from someone like Jackson. Clifford has been terrible about giving young players opportunity and that is very bad when your team has so many lottery picks like we do.

Everyone has their price. I don't think we'd offer the $$ he'd want. And I'm also not sure if it's quite the opportunity he'd want either.

Money I'm not sure how much we offer, or how much he would want.

Opportunity, I think depends on the outlook that Kupchak presents to him. If he feels Mitch has a solid plan, then he may embrace the opportunity of the money also worked

I honestly have no idea why people are talking about Mark Jackson in an even half-way serious manner. Are we forgetting the drama? No Jerry Freaking West isn't allowed to see practice with MARK JACKSON. Oh, yes my assistants are out to get me MARK JACKSON. The players talking about how MARK JACKSON made it 'us against the whole world' including the front office?

Honestly it was one of the more insane things I've ever read about in basketball, and you dudes want that here? No thanks!!!!
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Two of the three remaining Van Gundy tree head coaches could be fired this offseason (Clifford and Stan Van).

Edit: In all honesty, I would be looking for a new coach if I was Minnesota's GM as well. Thibs will probably be considered a god there for a while like Clifford was here after he got us to an 8th seed after a long run of being unsuccessful, but I don't think there is any chance they will ever compete with Golden State or Houston playing Van Gundy ball, and competing with those teams should be their focus with the talent level they have.

2. Anti-develops young players.
3. Thinks players like Bellinelli and MCW are good.
4. "Dig, dig, dig!" and to hell with offensive rebounds.
5. Inbounds plays after time outs.
6. Big Al immune to defensive standards.
7. Owned by any coach clever enough to stagger lineups.
8. Plays Kemba and other key players to detriment of their health in meaningless games.
9. Beloved by Bonnell.

Keep:
1. Already paying him for a year.

Fire:
1. Team underperformed failed to meet expectations missed the playoffs again
2. supposed defensive coach couldn't figure out how to defend the 3
3. 4th quarter collapses - a lot of games lost late 2nd yr running
4. Either the roster's gotta change or the coach has to - if you can't move the players, doesn't the coach have to go?
5. His system isn't a fit with the roster
6.Stubbornness that costs the team draft places - CHA will pick 11 this yr in a draft that looks like it drops off at 10
7. False pride. Wiping MEM out by 60 with the team already eliminated from the playoffs is Hubris. Cliff's fatal flaw.

Keep: I just don't think there is any clear rationale for keeping him

Is it time to cut ties to Stephen Silas?

Unless the team can hire a really good coach I think the opposite is advisable. Let him be the HC for a year while Kupchak prepares a plan for the future.

I agree. The players seem to like him and I want to see what he can do if he is allowed to pick the style of play and run the team. I am not sure it is the answer but he is young and could be a good piece to grow with a young team if he is more flexible and willing to use what he is given in the best way rather than pull a Cliff and jam square pegs into round holes for years.

Beyond time to cut ties with him. He’s been a intrical part as a top assistant of the last 3 failed coaching staffs.

I wonder what the thinking is with Dwight now? With Clifford gone I don't think it's a great idea to keep him on the team. I also don't think it will be easy to move him in the offseason, but as a large expiring he will have some value as a deadline trade.

I said this in the other post but I think Silas needs to get a real shot at this job. he has been waiting a long time its time to put up or move on.
