JMAC3 wrote:I think I’m out on Kevin Porter Jr. He has a ton of natural talent, but seems like something is off with him.

He has a lower shot release, is not a very good off the ball player who tends to stand too much. Isn’t a good decision maker with the ball who had more turnovers then assists this year.

He shot 52 percent from Free throw line so it’s not like he is a pure shooter. Only averaged 17 ppg per 40, which is underwhelming considering he is billed as a scorer.

Doesn’t get to the rim much as 73 percent of his shots are jumpers. A poor defender who lacks effort and has questions about work ethic.

Not saying they are same player, but I feel like Monk can do a lot of what he does and no guarantee that Porter does it any better.

Great breakdown. I haven't been impressed by him much either. The only way I don't mind us taking him is with 51st pick. I wouldn't even use 36 on him in this super deep draft

I see a lot of possible bust in this draft. My list of possible bust are

Ja Morant, Darius Garland
Romeo Langford
Kezie Okpala, Kevin Porter
Zion (but not at first. I think he will have a decent first year but then it will fizzle out shortly thereafter)
Bol Bol, Brandon Clarke.

I forgot to add in Jaxson Hayes as a possible bust

Lugentz Dort is going to be a solid pickup by someone late in this draft. His game kind of reminds me of Caris Levert.

I had to post this depth chart because I made so many extreme changes. I have added in quite a few players. The main changes
came in the Center position. I rank Froling number 1 (slightly) Some say he can be a poor mans Jokic. I also like Zagars
quite a bit. I am all but certain this is it. Just couldn't wait till draft day to post these extreme changes lol.
I admit my list looks weird af, but I think these are better prospects (if given a fair chance) on a team. Not saying
they will have better careers (because most wont even get drafted due to lack of predraft hype by many before them)
just saying I think they are better prospects than their counterparts. This list is who I think is best to worse at their respective positions.

Froling would be a good 2nd round pick and would probably be able to play straight away as was playing against the likes of josh Boone and bogut this year holding his own.

He is styling his game after jokic which is where the nba interest is coming from. He’s a smart player who can shoot out to the 3 point line.

Welp since my depth chart has changed so extremely obviously my who I would take list has as well. Of course there are other players I like but I would just try to invite them to camp if they go undrafted.

PICK 1
Jarrett Culver
Luka Samanic
Jalen McDaniels

-----
PICK 2
Josh Obeishie
Arturs Zagars
Deividas Sirvydis

-----
PICK 3
Harry Froling
Tyler Cook
B.J. Taylor
Isaiah Roby
Vanja Marinkovic

I threw in a video of Froling to show the poor mans Jokic comparrison.

Is Caris LeVert built like a tank and a terrible shooter too. Lu Dort would be an all pro linebacker in the NFL.

Dude you been a member here for like 3 weeks and are calling someone out for post. First off I rarely even post other than during draft time because I have a super passion for it. I love to dissect things being an entreprenuer and already having a passion for being a GM since I was about 12. Not to mention loving my HORNETS. I like to bring the disscussion of other players that are not mentioned rathar than the top five (we can pick from) over and over again. My approach (the last couple of years) has been to try and dissect the WHOLE draft. We have a very THIN message board as it is and you come here calling out someone in just two weeks time. You should be happy to have something to read on this board by it being so thin memeber wise. Don't worry I will eventually conform to your accusations, and demands when the draft is done. Not because I am actually doing so, but basically just letting you know what they are.

This is a message board and this specific thread is a place where people are free to share their feelings and thoughts on the upcoming draft - so long as they do it respectfully and within the guidelines of the RealGM T&C’s.

There are very few posters as respectful as UNCNYC. Ive never seen UNCNYC post an aggressive or contentious post. Never seen UNCNYC be anything than respectfully enthusiastic.

You might not like what UNCNYC has to post, but no one is making you read UNCNYC’s draft related posts.

I don't think I have agreed with a single post the UNCNYC has made in relation to the draft but I am in full agreement with this. UNCNYC is a positive poster who has a real enthusiasm for the draft and its cool that he takes time to post here.

I know Nassir Little has a lot of work to do. But he's a really good athlete that can rebound and he has a workable jump shot. In this weak draft we'd be foolish to not take a hard look at him if he's still available at 12. He'd be a good MKG replacement.

If the team ends up keeping the pick I hope they end up drafting one of NAW, Little, or Langford at 12.

You’re missing the point though, you can’t “not read it”. It takes up half of a page. It’s just a little selfish, that’s all. But, you’re right, I just have to deal with it.

Hey, just wanted to take time and welcome you to the board. I hope that you will become a regular poster HERE, and I, as well as the others here, I am sure look forward to your opinions. We have a very small group of people who post here, and I look at that as a good thing that we share. Makes it more authentic and fun. You can feel a difference on this board. I have enjoyed your opinions over the past few weeks and I hope that you will grow to tolorate mine

"I" and from getting top know the "quality" of guys on this board I can go as far as saying "WE" would like to officially Welcome you to the HORNETS board. Go HORNETS

Thank you for the kind words, and I appreciate it. I have been reading this board for over a decade. I live in Greenville South Carolina so the Hornets on my “local team” but I also like the Hawks because they’re a little south of me. One team is headed in the right direction, unfortunately the other is mired irrelevant mediocrity.

UNCNYC don't ever lose your enthusiasm!
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

I don't think you can spam a draft thread by posting draft related posts?

Good on UNCNYC for spending as much time as he does on draft stuff. I damn sure couldn't name 5% of the players that he includes in his lists.

and if you haven't heard of Alen Smailagic its because he plays for the Santa Cruz Warriors and Golden State is trying to hide him
Who is Alen Smailagić? Smailagić is an 18 year-old Serbian basketball player who was selected 4th overall by the South Bay Lakers in last year’s G-League draft. The Lakers went on to trade him to the Santa Cruz Warriors in exchange for Jemerrio Jones and the Warriors 2019 1st round pick. With that happening, Smailagić became the youngest player to ever sign a G-League deal, having turned 18 just a couple of months before the draft. Because of his age, Smailagić wasn’t NBA draft eligible for another year, so just because the Warriors took him in the G-League draft didn’t mean they owned his NBA rights. It’s risky for a team to draft a player and help develop him, knowing he can immediately be selected by a different franchise a year later. The Warriors likely realized this, and there are definitely some things pointing towards the argument they’re hiding his talent from the rest of the league. During the G-League Showcase, the Warriors sat Smailagić citing “rest reasons” due to easing him into a season with more games than he’s accustomed to.

in this video the 18 yo hits a stepback 3, a post up fallaway, pokes the ball away several times leading to breakaways, finishes a breakaway with a reverse, bulls his way to the rim for an and-1, makes a beautiful high post entry pass, and swats three shots; and this highlight vid is from just one game
