Was fun seeing a big crowd again after so long. Thought the Knicks controlled most of the game but I guess Trae silenced some doubters at the end.

This Knicks team reminds me the old Larry Brown-era Bobcats team. Great defense, slow pace, bad offense, probably not enough fire power to go very far. For comparison...

2010 Bobcats - 1st in Defense Rating, 24th in Offense Rating, 26th in Pace
2021 Knicks - 3rd in Defense Rating, 22nd in Offense Rating, 30th in Pace

Unfortunately we had to face the Dwight Howard in his prime Magic while the Knicks get a much easier first round opponent

Not surprised the Heat lost to the Bucks 4-0, as they were barely a playoff caliber team. The surprise is how far they fell off from last year. Didn’t follow them much, but it goes to show how difficult it is to compete with the better teams. Hornets faded badly late, just to the lose the “play in”. Silver lining? Of course. We have some young genuine talent, and some that should move on. But every step is such a difficult one in this league. The Heat added a transformational play last year in Butler, but he couldn’t pull them as far just one season removed.

If the Hornets wish to join the “big club” they must get an impact center, keep building depth and make smart financial decisions on who stays and who goes.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

They need Herro to make a leap, and if anything he regressed. Dragic is also getting older.

LeBron James started to look a little old last night against the Suns. He is actually 36. It seems impossible that he has been around that long, 18 years, entering the NBA right out of high school.

I don’t like him walking out early. Weak and unprofessional

I love it. Could not stand Ainge and his woulda coulda shoulda pretend trade offers getting publicized incessantly. Had to think that signing and injured Kemba for big bucks was a factor in his "stepping down".
On the down side, we may not be able to steal so many of Boston's players now.

I guess I'm only mostly surprised about Ainge, but I'm floored about Stephens. Had no idea he'd want to stop being a coach.

How would people feel if Frank won a championship this season with the Suns?

I don't know why anyone would care. He's a bum. If he went there and blew up it would be different but he's generally a non-factor for them.

Celitcs want to trade Kemba to get some cap space.

Who would've thought Kemba leaving would hurt him more than us.

Didn't many of us agree that the money he left for was way more than we should pay?

His contract was a time bomb the second he signed it with those knee issues

I think the only thing people disagreed with was not trading him for draft picks a year or two earlier.

Yep. But the narrative at the time was a lose-lose for Kupchak. He couldn't trade a player so loved, but also couldn't pay him once Kemba became All-NBA. I think the Hornets came out all right, though. Kemba made out like a bandit, too.

Yeah Charlotte made out with the arguably more productive player for much less and Kemba got his money.

Ironically Boston received the worst outcome after "robbing" Kemba from us

No way.

Many, many posters were up in arms because we didn’t pay him the super max and were ok with losing him.

I was more annoyed with the handling of it all. Anyone who was paying attention knew Kemba had a legitimate shot to make one of those teams, yet the team acted shocked. After campaigning hard for Big Al's All-NBA bid and MKG for All-Defense (and LaMelo's ROY campaign is a recent example), suddenly they're bewildered by post-season accolades.

"All's well that ends well" I guess, but they still didn't maximize his value. Hell, Mike Conley literally signed the biggest contract of all time and the Grizz still got two firsts for him.

Steve Clifford got out of a bad situation in Orlando. Maybe he will go back to high school coaching or overseas.

Return to Charlotte Hornets
