Re: 2021 Free Agency
I like the idea of taking a shot on Lauri, but I hope it isn't 3/60 as rumored. I also hope Mitch just forces the Bulls to match if they try and play hardball and demand we throw them an asset. I don't think they'll ante up if push came to shove so no reason to send them more than a goodwill-building trade exception.

Re: 2021 Free Agency
Really feels like Lauri is PJ"s replacement for when we send him out for Turner.
Use the TPE on Lauri in a S&T.
PJ + Caleb Martin + NOP 1st for Turner.
Think I'd be down

Re: 2021 Free Agency
Sign me up for Lauri. We need to have someone stretch the floor in the starting lineup.
Currently: Ball, Rozier, Hayward, Miles/PJ, Plumlee
- We have people that can bury an open shot but teams will be clogging the lane because Ball, Rozier and Hayward all drive to the basket for the majority of shots. Adding Lauri could definitely benefit the team.
- Now does he play PF or Center? I say his position is PF. He can play Center when we play teams without a post up Center. If he ever goes against a Gobert, Embiid type then in no way should he sniff the Center position

Re: 2021 Free Agency
Markkanen has been on Mitch’s radar for a while. I love his potential to still be a prolific stretch player in today’s game. Frankly a future front line (if all things were beautifully right) of Kai, Lauri and Miles could be scary good. I think Both big men could ultimately rotate as needed. Lauri certainly needs improvement defensively, but with the right scheme and cast he could be really effective.
If this move is completed (which I think it will be) it is designed for the future core, not necessarily for winning huge next year. The dollars floated in that last tweet are probably BS fed by his agent hoping for a larger offer. The Hornets can create more money by renouncing the rights to several players. But they should keep the deal limited to manageable dollars relative to the extensions they will need to pay next year.
Future contenders starting lineup:
Ball
BOUK
Bridges
Markkanen
Jones
Shivers my imagination!

Re: 2021 Free Agency
You aren't wrong in your analysis of the roster problems with starting both terry at shooting guard and Bridges at Power Forward, however, I still don't believe there's any scenario where Terry would be okay coming off the bench this year. Not in a contract year. And he certainly isn't someone that we should piss off if we have plans of trying to keep him in the future.

And he is definitely starting if he makes that much.
*cough Rozier to bench cough*
Lol. You must dislike Rozier a lot. Other than Lamelo and Hayward he's easily the one penciled in as a starter from day one no matter what.
No, but starting lineups with Rozier aren't balanced IMO. Miles needs to start for defense. If Miles plays PF, then we're too small. The only way to have decent size and not be bad defensively all involve Rozier being on the bench. That doesn't mean he won't play 30mpg.

Going from Zeller, PJ, and Biz to Turner, Markkanen, and Jones in one offseason would be insane. We'd go from being one of the shorter teams in the league to freakishly tall.
That said I think we've moved on from Turner.

Oh my…now you’re making me hyperventilate. Some may disagree, but even if we traded Hayward, in my world this starting lineup would be ready to rumble for a long time:
Ball
BOUK/Rozier
Bridges
Markkanen
Turner

Re: 2021 Free Agency
Now this is a series of moves that I can get behind this summer.
Ball / Ish
Rozier/ Bouknight
Hayward / Miles
Lauri / Kai
Turner / Plumlee
That roster does not make me angry. it's a good balance of competing for the playoffs while at the same time building around our young Talent. Would still really like to see another start with some size and defensive abilities though. And maybe that can be Cody, assuming he has improved his shooting a bit this summer.

I'm a bit torn on that series of tweets with the $20M figure. having a "quote" from a Bulls front office person saying "they can have him" is SUPER suspect but at the same time, I'm not sure what any insider, fake or otherwise, would have to gain by throwing out numbers when they could be proven wrong any minute now when actual reports start trickling out.

?
PJ and Markkanen's shooting numbers (in fact a lot of their numbers across the board) are pretty identical - other than blocked shots which PJ averages more of.
So essentially you are suggesting replacing a like player for a like player - but instead of paying the player on a rookie scale contract you want to pay him $15-$20mil a year?
That just doesn't make any sense to me.

I’d GUARANTEE that’s Markkanen‘s agent planting stuff to push up the price. Problem is he’s chattering to an empty room. Two teams able to get a anywhere close, and we’re the biggest. He’s trying to get us to dump our twins and another player to reach max stretch available money. Nope.

Re: 2021 Free Agency
SOMEONE CONVINCE ME HOW MAKKANEN IS BETTER THAN PJ!!!!!
And even if he is better (which I am not at all convinced of), how is he better in such a way that it justifies spending $15-$20mil a year on Markkanen over $5mil a year on PJ?

So moving forward with Ball/Bouk/Miles/Lauri/Turner?
I....think I'd be okay with that.

Unless you are in the front office, how can you guarantee anything?
Blows my mind when people, especially posters, "guarantee" things.

Lauri and Myles are very good fits.
I think I could get behind that...but it's gonna be really expensive and injury issues scare me.

Re: 2021 Free Agency
Don't let the Bulls lack of interest in Lauri bother you. He's been jerked around quite a bit in Chicago for various reasons and now with the recent offseason moves he is simply not a great fit for the direction they are going. He has his faults but I still believe there is a better more consistent player in there and if used right he will be a strong add for the Hornets.

Re: 2021 Free Agency
I would have questions regarding the collective rebounding ability of a Lauri/Turner pairing.
I would also have questions regarding how much time/money is dedicated to them and how that'll impact opportunities for guys like Kai/Thor/and potentially Miles. I don't see Hayward as a good fit at the 2

Re: 2021 Free Agency
Some people freaked out over the idea of drafting Kispert.
Markkanen is a softer, less athletic and wayyyyyyyyyy more expensive version of Kispert.
Markkanen is essentially a catch and shoot 3pt shooter.......and that's it.

Re: 2021 Free Agency
I think I'm with Slam on this one.. If Lauri is better than PJ, he isn't notably better. I dont think thats where I want our dollars going. You'd really have to believe he was miscast in Chicago due to coaching, injury, and fit and that a new environment will help him take his game to another level in order to be down for this.
