Cant have a wing who can't even hit a 13 foot jumper. Hes probably the worst offensive player in the league. Hes going to need to make massive strides this summer

Re: OMFKG! The Michael Kidd-Gilchrist Thread II
What does 'spacing' have to do with the double-digit leads MKG usually help us get at the beginning of games?
What does 'spacing' have to do with MKG being in the top-3 positive net ratings of the Bobcats' 5-man lineups?
It's a foregone myth that Al Jefferson struggles in the post when MKG is on the floor. Check the numbers

The Bobcats are the 5th best 1st quarter team in the NBA for a reason, and that's because that's the quarter in which MKG receive the bulk of his minutes (8.0 minutes per 1st quarter for the season), and occasionally a part of the offense

I cant take these arguments serious. This bordering on just plain hating on the guy now.

Watch the next game against Miami. Watch how the defense shifts from MKG EVERY possession.

Not hating at all. Im actually a big fan.
Whens the last time a starting SF in the NBA was completely incapable of hitting a 3 and just as bad fron mid range? He has talent, but its not anyones fault that he cant shoot or create his own shot but the coaches he had growing up, and hes not good enough to build an offense around whatever strengths he has offensively.

At MKGs age Scottie Pippen was a terrible shot. He worked hard and developed into the player he became. He was never a great shot but used his defense to create offense and worked on his handles to get to the rim. That is guy trajectory MKG should shoot for. Steady offensive improvement while he keeps his defense at a high level.

Scottie Pippen had a good base to work from as far as form on his shot, and didn't have to start from scratch rebuilding it.

His shot did not look crazy but it never went in. Also the Matrix has taken an awful shot and made it effective enough to function. There are examples of poor shooting wings who play good defense improving. The key is being good enough on D to stay on the floor and learn. MKG plays great defense and is younger than those guys were when they entered the league.

Scottie Pippen was 4-for-23 (.174) on 3-pointers for the season at 22 years old. I think in today's microwave society that they don't expect players to progress if they aren't a near finished product right away

Re: OMFKG! The Michael Kidd-Gilchrist Thread II
There are plenty of guys who improved over their careers. We drafted him to fit a fast break style of play right away and hope he developed more to go with his defense. We then switch to a slow, slow, slow pace and it does not fit his style he is capable of playing right now.

Re: OMFKG! The Michael Kidd-Gilchrist Thread II
The numbers don't lie when they read that we're a better team with MKG on the floor. Forget about the individual stats and look at the results of having him on the floor. Our worst stretch of the season was when MKG was injured. How about them apples?! I'm not saying that MKG is our best player because he's not but he makes a difference between winning and losing on a team that has few. Only Big Al and Kemba outside of MKG are really impact players.

Re: OMFKG! The Michael Kidd-Gilchrist Thread II
there are a lot more ways to score than shooting jumpshots, i would like MKG to learn a floater in the offseason

Re: OMFKG! The Michael Kidd-Gilchrist Thread II
MKG helps this team more than he hurts us. You can't argue with the stats that show we are at our best with him on the floor.
That being said, there does need to be improvement in the offseason on his offensive game. Hopefully he can at least develop a solid mid range jumper, but as JDR said in the last post, there are other ways to score. I'd hope that MKG could become much more aggressive attacking the basket and finding ways to finish at the rim.

Re: OMFKG! The Michael Kidd-Gilchrist Thread II
Albeit far from conventional, MKG has a decent jump shot. MKG also has a confidence issue, whereas he's reluctant & petrified to even attempt a shot outside of the paint these days because of the way he's been treated due to his lack of above average offensive skill sets. Anybody that remember the early part of the season remember MKG doing step back midrange jump shots & etc. at a honorable clip
I wouldn't completely blame Clifford for MKG's confidence issue though. I honestly moreso feel like MKG need to man-up and play his game whether he make or miss shots. I've seen MKG play basketball in person during his high school days at various tournaments around the Tri-State Area and he seem more hesitant to take a jump shot now than he did then. Even at Kentucky he has knocked down 3-point shots confidently
