Reports are we still like Miller which is why they sent the team staff to Alabama to check on his background history.
I think Miller is the pick if we keep it.

That's just doing their job. They should have done that even if they preferred Scoot.
And if they're really doing their due diligence just going to Alabama isn't enough. They should have visited his hometown in Tennessee as well to ask around.

Re: The Scoot Henderson Thread
I think it's very clear that no one knows what we're doing. Scoot and Miller have been the two most obvious candidates for months, it would be foolish for us to not do deep background checks on both.

Yeah but the reports have been favoring Miller as the pick since the draft lottery.
I have a hard time believing all these mock drafts have us taking Miller if Scoot is indeed the better player. I think Miller will be the pick.

I mean... I get the fear. We are all hornets fans here. But how does an athletic 6'9 wing with length and an effortless 3-point shot strike you as bust material? Especially when you factor in his passing, handling, rebounding, and overall effort? Putting aside the off-the-court stuff, there's nothing about Brandon Miller (the basketball player) that scares me. His floor is exceptionally high.
I haven't posted in a while. (And I never really posted much to begin with.) But I watched a lot of Miller this past year. And one thing that I don't think gets talked about enough is Miller's feel for the game.
I don't have stats to back this up, just an eye-test thing. But he always seems to make the right play, the right read, even in the midst of chaos. He never gets sped up or plays outside himself, even though he was the focus of every opponent. It's just something you see so rarely on the college level, especially when you're talking about a 6'9 perimeter guy relied on to make plays.
All that said, I'd be totally fine with Scoot. But Miller is such a good fit and checks every box (assuming everything checks out off the court). Just don't see a guy with his skills busting

Agree with this. I think the fact that we sent our lawyers to review the situation in Alabama doesn't indicate anything. That's just proper due diligence that any billion dollar franchise should do on a decision of this magnitude.LofJ wrote:JustBuzzin wrote:Reports are we still like Miller which is why they sent the team staff to Alabama to check on his background history.

Agreed, I don't think anyone actually has a clue what our preference is at this point. The mock drafts are basing everything on what they perceive to be fit and the twisting of Mitch's words on the night of the lottery.wilson115 wrote:Those mocks with Miller at #2 have us taking fit not BPA.

Re: The Scoot Henderson Thread
No, that's not what I'm saying. I posted yesterday in the NBA draft thread that a consensus of 33 big boards taking from various draft sites have the average ranking of scoot at 2.5 and Miller at 3.4. So yes there are plenty of sites that have Miller ahead of scoot, but on average most big boards have scoot ranked number two.SWedd523 wrote:fatlever wrote:Agreed, I don't think anyone actually has a clue what our preference is at this point. I think our own B Diddy is a pretty good comp for Scoot not on that list.

I just think we need leadership coming out of this Miles Bridges and James Bouknight dynamic duo of dysfunction. LaMelo doesn't scream locker room leader and could very well demand a trade in a year or 2. I just don't want another potential character concern, Scoot could be an amazing PnR partner with Mark Williams. Miller's probably fine character wise, I just want a sure thing. Maybe Scoot never develops a great 3 point shot, but Ja has still be an amazing player without great range.
