The real issue here is roster construction.

What are you talking about? Al/Biz/MKG/Hendo/Walker would be a great lineup.

Subtract "Hendo", and I would agree

I think this team is finally starting to build the confidence & chemistry into believing that they can really win on a consistent basis. It's going to be interesting to see if they could go on a stretch similar to the one Brooklyn went on in the month of January to put them at or above .500

Biz might be turning a corner. We might make out like bandits if we keep him and can resign him to a decent cheap deal once his rookie deal is over.

Better be something like 3 years 12 million. He has piss poor value around the league.

i'd really like to keep biz for a long time, even if he never is more than our backup center. good defensive backup centers arent easy to find.

lets just say biz improves slightly every year for the year for the next 5 years (which is realistic considering his age, work ethic and room for improvement). if we can get him on a deal for something around 3mil per over that stretch, i think we will have a bargain on our hands.

that being said, i think the days of wishing for a big jump in improvement are long gone. its time to accept the fact that biz isnt going to be the next ibaka or next ben wallace.

Call me crazy but I still have faith, he's 21 years old and has been playing organised ball for 5-6 years.

I agree that the chances of him being Ben Wallace are slim to none but he can be a starter in this league imo.

I can't see why Biz couldn't be the next DeAndre Jordan or Joakim Noah, i would be extremely happy with that and its very possible

I have faith in him as well, and I think he can be a solid starter in todays NBA since the center position is about as diluted as the SG position, but he still has a good ways to go. Al Jefferson is the best thing that ever happened to him.

Ben Wallace was a fantastic rebounder, shot blocker who never averaged double figures in scoring.

I still think Biz could achieve that.

Ben Wallace also came into the league at 23 years old and was 27 before he even scratched the surface of his ability.

People always remember the player a player becomes, not the player they were.

I agree with you Sach.

He'll have to play more than 15 mpg to continue developing and that doesn't look like it's going to happen as long as Al Jefferson and Clifford are here so...

if he's going to become the next Ben Wallace it will probably be for somebody else. Lolcat tradition.

I could definitely see us losing him like Chicago did Asik.
Humble yourself.

Rim Protection Update:

Among guys who defend at least 4 field goal attempts per game at the rim, Biz is finally leading the league as Kaman has dropped off a bit with more PT. Opponents only make 38.1% of their field goal attempts when Biz defends them.

It's a shame that we don't have a player like that to pair with Al.

Wow. Very nice stat and I like how he is like rim protectors of old and doesn't care if he gets posterized, he challenges every shot he can.

Is there any way you could get this info to Clifford and make sure that he read it so he can understand that Biz is a valuable backup and should be getting around 25 minutes a night instead of 15?

It's crazy that some nights he's not even getting 15 and it has nothing to do with matchups or how he is playing.

This. I am perfectly okay waiting till 2016 for Biz to finally break through, because that's the year Al expires. That gives him 5 years in the league, 3 with Al, Clifford, and Ewing. The only thing that frustrates me is that Clifford refuses to play him and Al together even though they're perfect fits.

seems we all agree... bottom line, the cats need to continue to show patience with biz and keep him around after his rookie deal. he is getting better and with slight improvements over the next 5 years he should at least be one of the elite rim protectors, top backups and top rebounders per minute. any improvements to offense are just plus.

i really hope he works on that jumper. his form looks good. he lacks the foot coordination to be a good post player, but he can certainly become a half decent shooter from 10-15 feet with more practice.
