I can't wait for him to resign with us 10 minutes in so I can troll the f*** out of the million Lakers fans on twitter that think they have a chance at him.

Laker fan in peace... As much as I would love to sign Batum, I have the feeling we may be leverage for a max deal... LA would throw a max at him in a heartbeat with our $23 million dollar payroll... Dallas may be an issue...

I don't know that he needs leverage, maybe he does but I think he'll have plenty of offers if he's looking to move on. My guess is we offer him the max, but ask if he'd take less to bring back as many players as possible, basically leaving it on him.

I'm thinking it may not matter because we're offering a max deal either way if I had to guess.

Hornets small forward Nicolas Batum is expected to meet with the Mavericks in free agency, according to a league source.

then 11 minutes later...

Nicolas Batum's situation is much like Mike Conley's. Both are widely expected to re-sign if their teams offer that fifth year.

Oh we offering.

Maybe, but they did a whole piece on it and acknowledged that his agent is there - http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/16646387/hornets-nicolas-batum-meeting-mavericks-wake-possible-parsons-exit

Still think it's BS to be honest.

"Batum is expected to meet with Dallas."
"Batum...could rank at or near the top of Dallas' contingency plans"

Nothing definitive. They even link the picture of the passport. I think it's all just speculation based on that tweet.

Agreed. I couldn't be more confident that he's not going anywhere. He wants to be a higher usage player (talked about liking his role here more than in all his years in POR) but no top tier contender is going to offer him that role. We are going to offer as much as any non-contender and he really likes our team and coach, so why would he leave?

The more interesting question - where is Mahinmi at? If he's in DAL with Batum, maybe he could get in Mahinmi's ear and do some recruiting for us.

Bouna Ndiaye is about to have a nice payday coming his way. He represents Batum, Fournier, and Mahinmi.

anyone have any idea how much cap space Dallas has available? with and without Parsons? They are being linked to Whiteside, Batum, Parsons and Conley. Can they afford 2 of that bunch?

Let's see:

Offense runs through me - check
Maximum contract - check
Fifth year - check

Nope, I'm not going anywhere

Signed,

He's meeting with the Hornets first -- if they don't reach a deal he's got other teams lined up.

About the softest way to contact 4 teams. "Sure, hit me up why not."

I wonder who besides Cho will attend the meeting for Batum? Is Kemba and MKG getting in on the recruiting pitch? Can the almighty MJ put down the golf clubs and poker chips long enough to fly to Dallas?

welp, you can probably forget about MJ meeting with any free agents. He's in Italy riding jet skis.
