I couldn't imagine us getting Bobby Portis for a pile of hot garbage.

Which other team bidding could beat Boucher expiring contract plus 2 second rounders that could be high?

Is anyone going to surrender a prospect for 2 years of Portis? A 1st? Maybe, but I'm not sure who.

Would you be okay with the Hornets pulling the 2 second rounders and sliding in the Heat 1st? Mavs 1st?

Or just give up on the bidding?

Put differently, what does your Portis bid look like? I'm fine with you shooting down my proposal but I would like to see yours.

Like for me, if the Bucks are reorganizing assets around Giannis, I wouldn't hesitate to offer NSJ as the (B) prospect for Portis + Nick Richards if I can protect my 1st round pick, and just keep the 2 high second rounders on the table.

Yeah I think we'd owe a young player they can put into their prospect system since they have none. NSJ would be a good example like you mentioned. I like going after someone like Portis, we simply need size/IQ/grit in the front court.

Here is where I am at... still think BPA was the right call at #6, if the FO thinks that was Salaun then I am fine with the decision.

When it came to center, I was fine with the wait and see approach and see how Mark looked, how Richards looked and adjust on the fly via a trade if necessary. With Mark still iffy, but sounds like he is close I would have been fine to roll with Richards + mix of Grant/Diabete/Taj etc... however with Richards out a few weeks+ now is the time to take action.

We have 9 firsts and 13 2nds over the next 7 drafts. We are in a clear net positive draft pick position due to some smart trades by FO, but now is the time to potentially field some pick packages to address an issue.

Package A- 2 firsts

Targets- Walker Kessler, Claxton

Package B- 1 firsts

Targets- Poeltl, Vucevic, Capela, Robert Williams, Isiah Stewart, Zubac, Brook Lopez, John Collins

Package C- 2 2nds+

Targets- Dayron Sharpe, Dwight Powell, Jock Landale, Christian Wood, Thomas Bryant, Jaylin Williams, Goga Bitadze, Zach Collins, Bagley, Eubanks

I like the Bobby Portis idea. Real team first guy who will stick up for his teammates. Crazy eyes would be a fan favorite in Charlotte.

Honestly, I would just offer Toronto the Dallas future first and Nick Smith Jr for Poeltl. Are they really turning that down?

Poeltl under contract for 3 more years gives us a big center option who can give us 20-30 mins per game.

Micic, NSJ, Jefferies and Dallas '27 first for Poeltl works in trade machine.

I do not want to surrender assets for a center redundant with Mark.

I prefer Portis easily over Poeltl because Portis can bang for rebounds like Poeltl, but Bobby spaces the floor with the 3 ball. He's far more accomplished on offense and allows a playoff rotation to run small or big with bigs.

Mark Williams / Bobby Portis could really surprise.

Portis is a terrible defender, yes he brings some offense but he is more of a Montrezl Harrell type of player.

15% EPM on defense last year.

or trade Micic, Jefferies and picks for an actual rotation big. Then sign DSJ with the empty roster spot.

Mark is the rim protector. When they play small, Portis is not expected to be Mark on defense. He is expected to rebound like Mark, closing out possessions on defense. Portis just had a game with 18 rebounds.

But the core value of Portis is spacing the floor on offense as a small ball center, something neither Mark nor Nick can do.

You don't want Portis so you can drop it.

I've explained why I want Portis. So I'm done. No need to repeat myself. And I've heard your side.

Have a nice evening.

You can like the trade, I made one comment about Portis being a bad defender lol... Not sure what caused you to spin into hyperbole demanding I drop it, saying you're done, not repeating yourself etc..

Portis is good player, I highly doubt they would consider moving him for a few 2nds unless they were completely tearing the team apart post Giannis trade. No world they are moving Portis for a worse version of him in Boucher and telling Giannis we are retooling around you.

jeffries can't be traded till January, but realistically isn't necessary for any real move. Micic by himself can match any contract up to $15.2M
investigate Adam Silver
