Re: 2024 Offseason Thread
Kind of makes me wonder how Lee gets minutes for everyone if the Hornets were to sign Okoro.
Cavs can match, so I assume they have been fielding offers for sign-and-trade?
Also have to consider Okoro will want to sign somewhere he can start. There must be at least one team bidding that would make Okorp a starter.

I don't think he was ever leaving New York, too big of an opportunity there to do a prove it deal and earn a big paycheck.

Bruno Fernando waived by Hawks - there are worse end of bench bigs.

Knicks are cruising. I hope we get there one day.
We are still very thin at C.

Devonte' Graham to Portland. Surprised Denver didn't give him a shot honestly, seems like someone that would work quite well there
investigate Adam Silver

Re: 2024 Offseason Thread
Okoro would be a good get. Won't happen but green/okoro snd whoever plays the 3 the best would really extend the ingredients position.MasterIchiro wrote:Kind of makes me wonder how Lee gets minutes for everyone if the Hornets were to sign Okoro.

Miller
Okoro
Green
Would be solid at the wing to get things going. Tre Mann also should give solid minutes as backup pg/sg. In theory it sounds like a plus move.

Re: 2024 Offseason Thread
My completely unsupported theory is that Okoro rumor is a lingering rumor that predated us acquiring Josh Green.

Re: 2024 Offseason Thread
Lee has a type. I can see us getting Okoro with the plan being to move Miles once he is tradable. I'm sure the Hornets have already talked to teams about Miles but couldn't make it work logistically because he was UFA, but can once we he is eligible because its a decent contract.

Re: 2024 Offseason Thread
I'm not sure where this theory that we don't want to keep Miles is coming from, but that doesn't seem to be based on anything coming from the FO.

Re: 2024 Offseason Thread
Wow, that's surprising. For me that supports the idea that they were holding back Tidjane to give Black more time.

Re: 2024 Offseason Thread
Must have someone in mind from SL, lot of good players still as yet unsigned. Sad as I loved Leaky, we can probably get him back on just a G League contract tho

Re: 2024 Offseason Thread
FWIW, Okoro is 2 years younger than Leaky
I like Leaky, but dude is 25 and still trying to prove that he can improve enough to be worth plugging into a rotation. If we're depending on development, let's get someone younger.

Re: 2024 Offseason Thread
Dumping Leaky creates more touches for Salaun in Greensboro, and maybe NSJ. Those two will need to step up whenever injuries happen and they should be better prepared not having to share the ball with inconsequential players like Bryce, Thor, and now Leaky. NSJ and Salaun shouldn't have to fight for the ball with a bunch of scrubs. We are making an appropriate investment in our first round selections who will be called upon now and further into the future.
On that note, Salaun projects to provide optimal positional value at the 4. He is blocked by Miles and Grant there who are both starter level.
As Salaun comes along, Miles can be shifted more to the wing where his face-up game and playmaking translate. His versatility as a forward/wing unlocks more value in his declining contract.
So, I just don't see sufficient oxygen here for Okoro. It could be the Cavs just showcasing him and leaking his suitors even if conversations with the Hornets hit a dead end.
I saw some footage of Miles from this summer. He looks lean and bouncy, like he wants to play more uptempo and utilize his athleticism in transition and whenever he plays on ball. He definitely has the on-ball skills to play smaller, as Miller can do the same as an oversized 2.
Hornets have plenty of positional versatility. I just don't see any gaps Okoro can fill. He's duplicative with Green, Martin, Miller, and yes, Miles.

Re: 2024 Offseason Thread
If you consider Miles capable of playing wing then wing looks just about as crowded as guard.
Salaun is never ever ever playing wing in the NBA.
