If this offer ends up bringing Stephenson to the bargaining table it might end up looking pretty damn smart on Cho's part. That's what I'm hoping for at least.

Put Lance on that terrible Jazz team and see what kind of percentages he'd put up.

Trey Burke, a mediocre rookie PG was hurt for a handful of games at the start of the seaaon so they started JOHN LUCAS THE 1...2...3RD!

With the great Richard Jefferson at the 3, Marvin Williams at the 4 and Derrick Favors at the 5.

How would Lance do with those guys instead of Hill, George, West and Hibbert?

I thought it was impossible to sign someone to a 4 year 63 mill contract? The most for a first post-rookie contract from another team is 4 years 55 like Roy in Indy and Gordon in New Orleans

That in mind Hayward is a good player, but he is not worth a 13 a year contract.

Let's assume the Jazz don't match for a second and we get him. How much money does that leave to fill out the rest of the roster? Doesn't seem like there would be much left.

I'd rather have given this money to Lance who I didn't want. I'm not a fan of this deal...at all. I think Gordon is a decent athlete, he knows how to play, but he isnt a great shooter, isnt great at breaking down the opponent, and I dont know if he's a very good defender. I'm gonna watch some of his highlights, but from what I remember, he was just mediocre and he had periods where he struggled making shots last season.

How much cap space do we have left after his offer sheet? I don't mind him . Would love to have both him and Lance.

We'd have around 5 million left under the cap, but we'd still have the full MLE available to bring someone else in. That's enough to get a backup point and another power forward.

I wouldn't call Cho a 'idiot' just yet, but the thread has legs

the cap went up a lot this year, hence the big raise in max salaries.

Well it's an estimate. Hayward can't even sign the offer sheet till the cap is officially announced tonight anyway, I think. Either way, he's making 25% of the salary cap, which is a crap ton for someone of his caliber. Utah needs to match ASAP.

It will get him to the bargaining table. He'll say "Sorry you missed out on Haywood, but I will accept that 4 year $63 million contract."

So we're gonna replace MKG with Hayward at SF?
