Did anyone else get the new season ticket email?

Secure your 2012-13 Season Tickets today and Pay-the-Pick! Your price per seat, per game is determined by the Bobcats Draft pick number in the Lottery on May 30. If your Bobcats get the #1 Draft pick, you pay only $1 per seat, per game. That's just $43 for the season!

That's tempting to go to a game or two and sell the other tickets but ... who the hell would buy those tickets?

I thought there is just 82 games (41 home, 41 road). But one have to ask - how much is it for full arena?

I hope this not a hint that we get No.4 pick for more profit :)

Those of you living in North Carolina, how is the Jazz scene? How is the electronica scene? Is it a good place to live for the arts in general? How about philosophers? I'm considering moving there.

How about philosophers? Wut???

I minored in philosophy, and married a philosophy major, and I *still* have no idea why you asked that question.

If it helps, the grad departments of philosophy at UNC and Duke are both considered somewhere around #20 in the nation.

I was angry about that too. I used to only have to scroll down one full page to get here. Now I've got to do two.

Jazz? *blinks*
Electronica? *blinks*
Good place for the arts? I guess. I mean, people paint and do pottery and shizz.
Philosophers?

We get this beer here if that helps.

NC is decidedly in the South but there is a lot of progressive enclaves where the liberal arts are appreciated, like Asheville (Beercity USA), the Triangle, and my favorite home away from home, Wilmington. Arts and Music are big here and you can find anything at a downtown somewhere but I wouldn't expect to move here and find Greenwich Village or something.

I like live jazz music, and i might want to perform live electronica at some point. I write music but I don't take it very seriously right now because there's no where to play it here.

crunk- understand that I am extremely biased against North Carolina to begin with- but we aren't exactly the climax of American culture, and depending on where your moving from I would suggest taking a look at Virginia first- interesting place to live with a good amount of things to do.

hows the jazz in charlotte? well that all depends on perspective. compared to say, evansville indiana, charlotte's jazz scene may be an improvement. compared to NYC, obviously not too good.

that being said, if you are in the know you can find decent jazz any weekend night. and charlotte is big enough to still get many decent jazz musicians coming through. ive seen herbie hancock and the headhunters, pat metheny, larry carlton/stanley clark here in charlotte in the past. but last summer chick corea/return to forever passed over charlotte and played in atlanta and nashville, so....

as for philosophy, we have a dirty bar called the philosopher stone that has live music. best of both worlds. haha.

Then again, I grew up in Virginia, and I think I'd prefer the research triangle area of NC. Grass is always greener, I guess.

One thing to keep in mind about Virginia is that asking what Virginia is like is a lot like asking what Earth is like. You need to get more specific.

Funny - I think the years of automatically going straight to our board has my finger finely tuned so I automatically roll to our spot with one quick swipe but now I roll to the Nets board - so I feel your pain!
