Stomach ulcers are a nasty thing for an athlete. For a lean guy like Tyrus, it doomed him to poor nutrition and weight loss. Not sure what happened or why, but glad he's healthy and stacking on some muscle.

I agree this system can benefit him. Time will tell just how effective he is.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Or did poor nutrition doom Tyrus to stomach ulcers and weight loss? It astonishes me that athletes can follow such wasteful diets with all of the resources available to them.

I dont think the extra weight will help him at all. It's not like he was a bully at full weight previously.

He's still all gangly and looks a little unco. He still commits bad fouls. He still doesn't work the post.

Ok, so we can expect Anthony Davis to look like T-Rob this time next year?? It takes years to put on that much muscle, and a lot of dedication and clean eating.

Under normal circumstances maybe so, but you are overlooking the fact that he lost weight because he was sick. It doesn't take long for a person to recover their normal mass after recovering from illness. Our bodies do that instictively. That is why it is hard for fat people like me to loose weight.

Walt Cronkite wrote:Not sure why you quoted me. Dwight Howard was a pretty skinny dude coming into the league, not sure how Davis' build compares to Thor's, but he has years of strength training on him. i didn't claim Tyrus had gained 20 lbs of muscle, but I think it's dumb people are joking that his weight gain is bf%. I think it's easier to lose fat than gain lean muscle mass, but you can definitely make fast strides if you do drastic things, especially if you're as underdeveloped as Tyrus. Access to PEDs, trt or legal cutting edge supplements would help.

He wasn't that skinny. Dude was shattering backboards in high school.

Not likely. I know many people who eat terribly all of the time. I know very few who have ever had an ulcer, and none of them were still in their twenties.

Tyrus Thomas is expected to miss at least two months due to a torn muscle in his left calf.
Thomas was averaging just 6.6 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 18 minutes per game, so his absence shouldn't have a significant impact in fantasy leagues. Hakim Warrick is in line to pick up additional playing time with Thomas out

I'm not enough of a dick to say, "about time!", but at least we won't have to see him bricking 18-footers and being an idiot for a while. Let's see what Warrick can do now.

I'm going to miss his occasional good blocked shot but probably not enough to forget how much he declined as a player. Potential is just another word for "ain't did s@#t".

to be fair, tyrus was finally starting to play some decent minutes and his mid range jumper was back to where it was 2-3 years ago and not that abomination from last year. i guess we get to see what warrick can do now.

Bizarre. We trade for a bit of a TT clone in Warrick and TT proceeds to immediately go down for two months. I smell a Cho-spiracy. One day, I will find his crystal ball!

original article said "at least 2 weeks" and that was on nov 19th. with that in mind, i wouldnt expect tyrus back until late january at the earliest. its not like he has proven to be a quick healer in the past.

assuming mullens is out for a few weeks, we could be looking at a rotation of biz, haywood, warrick, diop and adrien. i think some d-league teams have a better big man rotation.

Am I the only one that thinks we missed TT a lot more than any of us probably thought we would? I seem to remember him actually playing pretty well leading up to his injury. His offense is obviously inconsistent (who's isn't), but he seems to bring an energy to our defense and can grab some rebounds. I for one am happy to have him back :-)

he has made some good plays in the last two games. something like 4-5 plays that I think would have gone the other way if warrick or mullens were out there. maybe 10 bonehead moves, but all our guys do that haha

they werent dropping tonight till the end, but i feel a LOT more confident with his mid range than Warrick. other than that they are equally crap. so yes Tyrus is an upgrade imo

edit: actually Tyrus is probably also a better rebounder and defender than Warrick but he cancels it out with his boneheaded drives to the basket

I got slaughtered on here the other day for saying that I missed Tyrus a bit. I guess some of us forgot how bad our other frontcourt players were on both ends. Like I said, at least Tyrus is dependable for that midrange jumper and a couple of help side blocks.

I would even be somewhat okay with his contract if he didn't play like a ragdoll and was as aggressive as Hakim is going to the basket.

He's not dependable.

You just saw the best overtime game of his life.

That is fine. Tyrus is only 27. He is only entering his basketball prime. If he pulled it together right now, and played like he is supposed to he could still have another six or seven years of good basketball.
