Could we move everyone up the two spots and let the two new people to join the competition be 11th and 12th? It would benefit the majority of the people involved.

so I suppose that if we have the 12th man when I wake up next morning (in 8 or 9 hours), I'll make my pick.

Could you truly consider taking anyone other than Michael Jordan?

I'd say there's a very small chance that I would even consider it. Although Magic and Bird aren't that far behind him, in my opinion.

Yeah, honestly Magic would create such huge matchup problems anyway he might be worth taking 1st overall, but it's MJ, man.

we dont have to have 12 to play. we did the retro with 10 last year. would you guys rather wait for 12 or go ahead with 10?

10 means that about 30 players won't be taken off the table, meaning less research for me. I like it!

OK, lets go with the 10 we have. lamar you can pick any time.

please note, on the main page i just noticed that two of the categories (deep sleeper and RIP) were not in bold, so you may have missed those. check them out. they are bold now.

how ironic that they were both bold.

also the deep sleeper category will be hard for me. I don't think I was even born before we switched to only two rounds

haha, my secret is out. this is how i come up with the parameters for most of the categories. i tweak the limits until i see an acceptable number of eligible players or until i weed out some of the studs.

For the Chucker category are the 1500 FG attempts for a season or career?

Unless I did it wrong according to basketball reference there are only 3 people since 1977 who have attempted 1500 shots over a year with <40%

so it would have to be career I think

edit:
Chucker - player has a career fg% of 41.00 or lower and attempted at least 1500 fgs.

With the first pick of the 2012 Scavenger Hunt Draft team Chris Mullin's Fade picks Michael Jordan from the Thief category.

Image

As for the year of Jordan I'm drafting I'm going with 1990-91. I don't quite need the late 80's Jordan for chemistry reasons despite the fact that he could score 40, get a triple double and show off about three highlight reel dunks.

I rather have him in his first full season under the triangle, yet still capable of athletically unbelievable things. He reportedly chased the scoring title, was still an **** and refused to play the triangle offense the whole regular season. He even deterred teammates of staying in Chicago the next year, but he finally learned what's team basketball in the post-season as evident in his finals stats (31pts, 11asts) and by the fact that guys like Cartwright and Paxson changed their thoughts about leaving in the summer just because of MJ's performance. He's not quite there in his mid-range game, but I like the unstoppable athleticism of this MJ.

With the second pick of the 2012 Scavenger Hunt Draft A Different World picks Hakeem Olajuwon from the Thief category.

1994-95 Hakeem Olajuwon the year he worked reigning NBA MVP David Robinson in the Western Conference Finals. While statistically not his best year, he made everyone around him better, and had one of the best individual performances ever when it mattered most.

No, they don't need to fit that year.

I'm interested in which Hakeem you'll choose, since you can either go with the offensive beast that has learned the passing game brilliantly or the defensive beast who hasn't quite grasped offense yet. As a admirer of Hakeem's game I love your pick. I don't know whether I would go with him before Larry Legend and Magic, but he's still a center to build around.
