If Roy continues to play like this the entire year, and reverts back to his 2013 form, A). How much will it cost to keep him, and B). Could we afford him? I doubt we'd let a legit big walk, but I"m curious.

Off topic, lets rename this thread -- ROY of the year, as we have no rookies :D

It sounds unlikely Roy Hibbert will play Wednesday versus the 76ers.

Good news.

we've dumped on Frank enough today. Time for Roy to get some blame.

I blame Clifford for both Frank and Roy. I've been saying that Hawes should get the primary backup C spot for a while now.

Roy getting the ball in the post is the worst "token post up you give your big so he stays active" ever. I desperately hope he makes it, I acknowledge the fact that you can't give maximum effort never being noticed on offense but, man... does it even look bad when he makes those hooks. I have no idea how he's scored on a couple of those lefties he also goes to.

really good way of putting it.

for the record, he's scored 0.86 points per possession on his post ups. 10/28 on those FGAs, yet a 13.9% shooting foul frequency lands him in the 51.9 percentile.

not great, but should be worse and probably will be as the season goes along. he's made some tough shots.

He's a low usage elite rim protector that is a willing screen setter and passer and so far our best offensive rebounder. Weren't we begging for that exact profile of a player last season?

I don't get the Hibbert hate at all.

Nah we didn't want a stiff that couldn't defend PnR. Is Roy even blocking shots? I haven't even noticed him swatting anything.

I'm not super interested in blocks, but he's second in the league in DFG% at the rim among Cs.

2.1bpg per 36, opponents shoot with 42.4% against him at the rim. yes. has certainly been impacting shots down there with his patented verticality.

Doesn't matter when opponents are pulling up wide open from 10-15 ft off the PnR huh?

Pretty much, yeah, good teams will live with those. Elite defenses protect the perimeter and the paint and sacrifice pull up midrange jumpers, which you probably know are the least efficient shots in the game.

Well our opponent 3PT% this season is 12th overall, so our perimeter D hasn't been too awful. But even if it was, not sure how it could be Hibbert's fault. He's the rim protector that doesn't require help that everyone has been begging for the last 2 seasons. My eye test says that it's not the case that him playing off PNRs is responsible for a lot of open 3s.

his rim defence is lfine, but he is terrible at everything else. like al and post scoring.

if he isnt rim protecting he is is basically useless, just like al was useless when he wasn't scoring.

and his rim defence cant really offset his perimeter/pnr defence.
