Oh man, another brilliant musical related nickname for Monk

Read on Twitter

Fun fact, Thelonious Monk, is from NC.

That's pretty cool, but I still like Moist Monk better.

Just keep saying it.

I forgot in all of this excitement that Monk was named Jerry West National SG of the year in college.

I just wanna go on record saying i think monk is sorely underrated.

I think hes gonna really benefit from the improved nba spacing.

I think he will develop into a guy who is great with the ball in his hands as his release is lightning quick and he can shoot from all over.

When he's off the ball hes a lethal weapon as a catch and shoot guy. Also his gravity drawing defenders should really help our kemba PNR's as help defenders will be so limited against us.

Kemba also needed a running mate in transition. Monk is a terror on the break.

Lastly, he gives us a primary offensive weapon when kemba sits. I think he could be paired in the backcourt with a weak off pg like briante or perhaps even batum in stints.

Great pick. He was my second choice at 6 and I think the Hornets may of got a steal. Looking forward to see him light it up in summer league.

I was comparing him to Gilbert Arenas in a thread but I think Monk has a better shot. Also I think Monks wingspan is around 6'7", Kentucky always gets it wrong. Like Fox at Kentucky was 6'4" and at the combine he was 2 or 3 inches bigger. I remember Kentucky took several inches off Booker's wingspan too.

I'm a Knicks fan but from NC (specifically Fayetteville so I definitely wanted DS Jr at 8) but I also wanted Monk for us. I'm still processing the Frank pick but I'm glad the Hornets selected Monk.

Just a chance at a high upside guy. Never know, Kemba and him could be Dame and CJ-East version

Some of Monk's comments in the past few days.
I'd beat MJ bc he's old.
I've got better range than Steph.
Kemba now has the 2nd best step back. I got the first.

I LOVE this!!! We have always drafted humble guys who say the "right" thing. I am so happy to have a confident scorer who really believes he is going to be great. Now I just can't wait to hear about his work ethic. If he combines confidence with a killer work ethic, he will be great!!

Same, we badly needed a guy who thinks he can beat any single person on the court at any time.

Good read! THanks. I am just excited at his potential. We have a real fighter and a closer. We have some good role players but are lacking that killer instinct closer besides Kemba. In the NBA you need a few of those guys on your team

Ive always thought Monks wingspan looked solid by the eye test.

Monk's floor is a rich man's Troy Daniels. How he didn't end with #30 (Currys') I'll never understand.

I really hope it's just a matter of when not if, even if Steph is like 39 or 40 years old.

I was holding out for the Sixers to move back into the lottery to draft Monk but it wasn't to be.

not gonna lie, I'm having a hard time picturing him and Kemba playing together. I think Monk actually shows promise on the defensive end but I would rather him guard PGs.

He strikes me as a better shooting Lou Williams, which people don't seem to understand is a really good basketball player.

"Er my god he's only 6'3 with short arms! Can't DRAFT THIS GUY!"

"Blah blah blah CANT EVEN DRIBBLE"

"ZERO PRECEDENT for a player of his size to be ____"

Seriously all you heard about Monk all year. Everyone agrees he's most likely to be a spark plug microwave scorer in the NBA but nobody seems to be willing to admit that is worth a top 10 pick.

You take the most important aspect of today's game (3 pt shooting), and put it on a 19 year old kid with nice athleticism.

And somehow people are quick to downplay his potential.

Good thing wins and losses aren't determined by wingspan, or Monk would be an UDFA and Michael Carter-Williams would be accepting his 3rd straight MVP trophy

I'll be cheering for Monk hard this year, and he is my dark horse to win Rookie of the Year behind DSJ
