Is that injury or just sucking bad enough to not play or both?

The last thing we need is more injury prone players.

It's mainly injury. There's a few DNP coaches decision in there but it's mainly injury. He's always dealing with something or another. Although, the 41 and 25 is the same season. He played 41 games for Philly and 25 after being traded to Milwaukee in 2014-15.

He's played 70, 66, 54, 45 in his first four NBA seasons.

Considering the situation of the roster and the flexibility to improve it just one month ago, i feel funny to see some people in /facepalm mode.

Roster in may
Kemba - Sessions
Batum - Belinelli
MKG - Lamb - Graham
Williams - Kaminsky - O-Bryant
Cody - Plumlee

Roster in July
Kemba - MCW
Batum - Monk
MKG - Lamb - Graham
Williams - Kaminsky - O'Bryant
Howard - Cody

Basically you recover the Lin/Lamb/Frank (if he does not start)/Cody bench that was killing everything couple years ago.

The question mark is not with the bench for me, it's with the starters. Starting by the forwards who are all due to bounce back this year (and not just one), along with the chemistry to find between Howard & Kemba.

MCW is ridiculously cheap for the fit he can be between Monk, Kemba and even Batum. There is enough 3 points threat there, i would be curious to know his fta on the other end (as Sessions was a lock to get to the line most of the time at least). And he will be in contract year... Something that worked pretty well for this team in a recent past.
Other interesting FA's were too expensive (and most resigned with their teams anyway).

Even if the season does not turn well, they have pieces (and contracts) to play with to make another push (basically, Hornets still need the Cody counterpart but at least they have Howard for maybe one year and little more to play with).

Really not sure why people are upset about this signing. 1 year, 2.7 mill. If he ends up being ass we can attribute that to his contract. You get what you paid for. Either way if he can't bring as much to the table as we'd like our backup PG to, I think there is almost always a backup PG available around the trade deadline. Would not be surprised at all if Lin ends up being back on the Hornets if MCW doesn't play well

I agree that MCW can come here and have a Shaun Livingston like impact for us and then also for his future. Like Livingston that joined us at 25 years of age too, MCW will be playing for his future.

Livingston's was more due to freakish injuries that is even a miracle almost that he's still playing this long into his career, but the height, age and unachieved potential is there.

Happy with this signing. Very solid defender and a great contract. I think Cho did a good job here.

And last offseason Roy Hibbert was the strong inside presence and rim protector that we needed. Its possible to manufacture positive spin for just about any player.

Hibbert was dominant the first time we saw him, then got hurt and never recovered.

It's one thing to spin, it's another to **** on him with nothing to support it.

I have to say I this conversation gave me a chuckle.

If what you wrote isn't spin, I don't know what is. Hibbert hadn't done anything in years. He played 1 good game the first game of the season, got hurt and did nothing the rest of the year.

The spin he was referring to was me pre-season saying that Hibbert could be a solid defender. If he hadn't been injured, I think it's pretty clear that that was true.

It's one thing to say you're concerned about MCW offensively. It's another to say he's a trash player that is a bad fit that can't help us. He walked that back a bit in his last post.

I don't think that is clear, there is no evidence other than one game to back up your claim. He's far closer to being a "scrub" than a solid defender. He didn't need to walk anything back, the irony was that you were the one spinning, not him.

The offense won't necessarily suffer with MCW. Sometimes, sure, but CHA's downhill attacking + motion is gonna physically overwhelm opposing benches.

Anecdotally, the top 7 offenses were hardly universally spaced (primarily v starters, too).....

Solid signing at this price. With the addition of Dwight/MCW, we have the luxury of a lot of different defensive looks. Much tougher to mismatch

I dunno, I used to be high on MCW but he hasn't produced much in the NBA. I'm honestly not sure he adds much more than we already had with Weber. That's my only problem with it, just seems like unnecessary roster duplication. If Kemba has a slumpy shooting year we'll potentially have only Monk, a rookie, as our best shooting wing.

I wasnt specifically referring to you with the Hibbert thing. That was just how the signing was sold in general and it was actually true that he was a good rim protector, but that didnt make it a good signing because Hibbert was still an awful player despite his rim protection. Thats why im not sold on this signing because of MCWs defense, which is legitimately good. As far as i can tell he still is a really bad overall player. That was kind of the point i was trying to make with the comparison to the Hibbert signing.

Yea i dont think you can point to his defense being good as a "win" when his offense is significantly worse.

Our best offense is literally gonna be to have mcw, batum, and lamb hoist bricks and have mkg and dwight chase the off reb lol

I agree with your overall point, but i feel like we are really pushing it on the 2nd unit. If Cliff plays the five man bench unit together there will be three non floor spacers unless Lambs 3 point shot finally pans out.

Our bench is going to have to defend their asses off to keep from losing leads/growing deficits.

Lol it could've been Calderon. It's only for 1 year and under 3 million.

If Monk can get into rhythm and shoot he's definitely rookie of the year. We definitely need to fix our cap situation next off season.

Cody and Frank playing against other bench frontcourts is unfair. They are going to dominate.

And Lamb may not yet be consistent from 3 but he is an efficient scorer nonetheless. And we also have Malik back there. I'm not worried about our bench at all, they are going to be great. I'm more worried about Batum, MKG, and Marvin. They all need to step up their games.

Not bad. He has size and showed flashes of brilliance. Maybe it comes together for him in Charlotte in the backup PG/possible sixth man role.
