Lamelo Ball is potentially a game changer franchise PG. He could be a superstar. Yes teams would have to pay a premium to acquire him. Pick 8 in this draft is not too different from pick 16. Robinson is a traditional center who plays 20 minutes because he gets into foul trouble. Neither 8 nor Robinson have superstar potential. That's why the Knicks 100% would have to include either Barrett or their 2021 st.

Moving from 3 to 1 is lateral movement within the top tier. You don't pay a premium to move within a tier.

I don't think the Knicks will pony up for LaMelo but the Wolves should definitely ask the moon. Robinson doesn't really fit there like he does in GS. But if LaMelo goes one, Knicks are out on him unless they pay a premium.

Hopefully this is an indication that we aren't trading for him.

It says a lot that not long ago the Rockets core was the only team capable of competing with the super Warriors and then they traded for Westbrook + overhauled their roster to fit him and almost immediately were forced to blow up their entire team.

I sincerely believe the Rockets have to trade Harden first because they will need to attach a significant asset to Westbrook's contract.

They could just run it back. They lost to the eventual champions in rd 2. It was a strong season. They don’t have to do anything. Really good players can be found on the waiver wire like Duncan Robinson, Kendrick Nunn, Christian Wood, Hassan Whiteside, and Fred VanVleet all experienced.

My guess is Knicks make a trade for Westbrook.

They have a bunch of partial guaranteed guys that should help facilitate a trade for Houston to open up space.

Then let Houston go bottom of barrel hunting for guys that can be successful playing off Harden.

Harden is not happy playing with RW from what I gather. Teams can double and triple Harden since RW outside shooting is pitiful.

Houston should just trade Harden and rebuild around RW. The Nets trade probably isn't terrible. RW just needs the ball in his hands to be effective.
The Charlotte Hornets will win their first round series against the Boston Celtics in the 2021 Playoffs

They can't just run it back if Harden wants out. There was speculation Harden asked out privately, Morey bolted and Russell Westbrook stayed out in front of the news to become the first to publicly voice his desire for separation. It's like middle school when you hear you're about to be dumped then announce to everyone you're dumping that person. Then both are like, I DUMPED YOU FIRST. I dumped you. NO. I dumped YOU.

Harden doesn't want to play with Westbrook,. That to me makes more sense than the other way around. Harden opens space for Westbrook. Westbrook destroys space for Harden. Both want to dominate the ball so both are unhappy. But I suspect Harden initiated the breakup. He wants to play with Kyrie and KD but the Nets don't have the assets. Morey knows Philly does have the assets. So I think Harden for Simmons is destined to happen. But the Rockets have to get Josh Richardson + pick 21 and maybe Thybulle in the deal so they have some assets to attach to Westbrook. I don't think a single team has offered the Rockets expiring contracts alone or else they would've dumped Westbrook and kept Harden. They don't have that option I don't think.

Rockets would be very fortunate to have Simmons + expiring cap over what they have right now. They peaked. They're at a dead end. They need to get younger. They need to split up Harden and Westbrook because Harden wants out and they're stuck with Westbrook as is.

Looks like I called MJ wanting Russ and the rest of the front office not really being interested. Not that it was a difficult call or anything.

Would you trade the #3 + assets to acquire Harden though? I would.

Cho tried to get Harden a long time ago, and thought he had a deal with OKC, but Harden wanted no part of Charlotte. I doubt he thinks different now.
Who I woulda took:
2023: Miller | 2022: Duren | 2021: Bouknight, Jones | 2020: Ball | 2019: PJ | 2018: MPJ | 2017: Monk | 2016: Damian Jones | 2015: Winslow | 2014: Vonleh, Napier | 2013: McLemore | 2012: MKG | 2011: Knight, Kawhi

The fact that Patrick Williams is gaining so much steam makes me less likely to deal Miles.

Williams is an athletic 3/4 that can’t really dribble and needs to work on his shooting. Bridges might not have the same defensive instincts but he was way further along as a shot maker and a better athlete than Williams is and he might go top 5.
