Memory lane - probably my singular most positive experience as a Hornets fan was watching Kemba go from **** shooter to near Steph level insane three point shooter. Was such a crazy transformation.

Point being, life gets easier as a primary ballhandler and playmaker when guys can't just go under the screen.

i think its also important to remember that this is the starting line for these kids, none of them are going to be finished products. Scoot shot is not MKG level bad, its a flaw that can be fixed and I think we can live with early on.

Even if he does not meet expectations, he will be beyond motivated to prove he deserved to be #1 if he's chosen #2.. He seems to have a good work ethic and is looking for the right surroundings to succeed.

Bruce Kreutzer, the coach who fixed Kemba's shot, is here again. I'm positive he can help transform Scoot into a decent shooter if and when Charlotte drafts him.

Jordan loves athletic guards with a mean streak (I wonder why). He's wanted Westbrook in Charlotte for years. Once Scoot comes in for his workout he's going to blow the organization away.

Nuggets starters
Murray- 24 shots, 14 of them threes
Porters 10 shots, 7 of them threes
KCP 8 shots, 5 of them threes

Lakers guards
Reaves 16 shots, 9 threes
Russell 8 shots, 5 threes
Walker 3 shots, 2 threes.

You have to be willing to shoot from the outside to be successful as a guard in today's league.

Another comp of how much Scoot doesn't want to shoot.
DSJ shoots 2.9 threes per 36, Scoot shoots 3.1

Scoot absolutely needs to be able to shoot the 3 on decent volume at a good percentage. And he knows that, it's why he's working with the greatest shooter of all time and all of his trainers this summer.

i wouldn't trust a top 5 prospect if he didn't believe he could be the best player in the draft.

After whar happened with MKG, this. The story about him calling Callipari around the draft panicking that he didn't belong was really sad. He absolutely did belong, but if your confidence is that fragile it makes no sense whatsoever to take a guy like that at number 2. MKG was the ultimate role player with the talent to be more, but we doomed him picking him right after Anthony Davis. He did not have the confidence in himself to live up to the expectations placed on him.

yup, my point exactly. I'm sure MJ destroying him 1 on 1 didn't help the situation. Can't imagine MJ was doing anything but talking **** during that entire game. If you're picking at the top, you want the guy with the extreme confidence. The Anthony Edwards types that would relish the opportunity MKG got to play 1 on 1 with his owner being the **** GOAT.

MKG never played with the same edge/intensity after the double shoulder surgery situation and it turned him into merely an above average defender and he also lost all of his confidence on offense.

Pretty sure I remember the Hornets medical staff cleared him for full practice like 6 weeks after a surgery that was supposed to have a 4 month recovery and he played his first game at like 9 weeks or something like that.

And 1 for the first part.

I'm pretty anti "our medical staff is stupid" so not into that.

I mean, it was a clear top 3 that draft, we picked whoever was left

Not sure, but it kind of tracks. I think I remember they took Zeller back in the day because he hit a bunch of outside shots in his workout and they thought he was going to be a stretch 4. I don't remember if they worked out Kaminksy, but if they did he probably looked like Dirk in his workout. It was a different GM back then, but I'm sure a lot of the same characters from MJ's posse are still around.
