The housecleaning has finally begun. Incompetence has been tolerated for far too long.

Am I the only one that thinks Fred Whitfield actually did his job fairly well? Lol

No. I liked Fred, and there for awhile he had an account on the old Bobcats Planet (maybe here too?) where he'd interact with the fanbase. I thought that was pretty cool of him

Wish Fred the best with his health situation. Now, glad to hear the party is just starting. I do NOT want Mitch to be placed into any other position other than retired. No to President, to concessions manager, to towel boy.
These positions are likely to be on the admin side anyway. I still don’t think the new owners have it in them to send Mitch off sooner than end of season. I’d like them to get their new GM in place so he could coordinate any trades that might fit the new strategy, while lining up Clifford to clean out his locker.

we need to purge everyone from the MJ era. There might be some nice guys that are casualties, that's a risk I'm willing to take.

Difference between a nice guy and someone that was actually good at their job. He wasn't "purged" either. Dude has throat cancer.

**** well i wasn't aware of that piece... Hope he recovers well.
My "purge" comment was for everyone else in the organization. Top to bottom, clean it out. idc

He didn't have much if anything to do with the basketball side of things.
But still, the new owners need to get their own people and hopefully they're better at it that MJ was.

The non-basketball side of the organization wasn't the problem. The marketing, community outreach, etc. parts of the organization are generally excellent at their jobs.
The basketball side is where everything is a dumpster fire.

The Hornets were actually good in the business side of things. I have zero criticism for them there. It's the basketball side of things, coaching decisions, draft choices, trades (or non trades), free agent negotiations and the stubbornness to hang onto certain pieces that aren't getting us where we want to be. Once Mitch and MJ's friends and family are gone, we have a chance to improve. I just hope it doesn't take another 2-5 seasons.

I will say it seems like they stepped back away from the community service stuff that was common in the early MJ-as-majority-owner days.

Hopefully this is a sign they'll invest more in the on-court product too
