Re: It's Mann: The Tre Mann thread.
Mann is going to be the guy to watch in the first half of the season imo. Up for a contract extension next summer, I think he'll get some run on the perimeter to prove if he's really worth keeping around as a jitterbug Clarkson type. At least if he can somewhat differentiate himself as better than NSJ/Bouk. If not, could see him getting traded to a contender so we don't lose him for nothing.

He's a first rounder from OKC so he'll be restricted. I wouldn't be too worried about losing him for nothing. He will have plenty to play for.

Re: It's Mann: The Tre Mann thread.
Giving off Iverson vibes and I love it. I remember when I saw he was included in the okc trade i was excited. He looks like he's gonna be our 4th scoring option this year and could be our starting sg or super 6th man.

He's sorta like Jeremy Lamb but a better dribbler.

Re: You Da Mann: The Tre Mann thread.
He creates the rim pressure that pulls defenders away from range shooters LaMelo & Brandon, cranking up the stress level on the defense, and bringing out the best in our top scorers.
I can't think of a better complement to their skills.
He commands space in his own right, with the ability to create his own shot on all 3 levels and finding teammates for angles to cut and for open looks.
His value to this group is soaring.

Re: You Da Mann: The Tre Mann thread.
I understand (and concede) Josh Green will start. But I believe Tre Mann will earn a closing role sandwiched between LaMelo & Brandon, freeing both to stretch the defense off ball when the ball is in his hands. He's so dangerous with them.
LaMelo - Mann - Brandon - Miles - Mark.
I think this closing group is flying under the radar. But there's so much youth and potential to really excel as a unit.
Add Salaun who is showing some early promise as a potential closer in small ball lineups as stretch big. He is every inch as long as Al Horford. And Horford can't dribble/handle worth **** (like Salaun). And he can't run the floor nor pressure full court. Their athleticism/motor is no comparison.

same kind of deal we gave Jeremy Lamb when we first traded for him. Jeremy was making about $7M/year on a ~100M cap over the course of his three year deal.
The cap will average $170M over the next three years, so the same percentage of the cap would be about $12M a year. To be a little generous, 3/$42M?
investigate Adam Silver

Re: You Da Mann: The Tre Mann thread.
He's restricted so that helps. And the Hornets don't have tax pressure.
If he carves a closing role and brings out dynamic scoring in our top 2 options, Hornets will definitely threaten to match.
We have to see how he does over a full season before setting a price.
Not gonna lose this dude for nothing though, same as with PJ (1st round pick) and Miles (contract).
Tre also fits the timeline with LaMelo, Mark, Brandon, and maybe Salaun.
Micic is a spare part at this point.

Re: You Da Mann: The Tre Mann thread.
Hes worth 50 to 60 over 4 years. He's young still and could get even better and turn into a super microwave scorer/ secondary playmaker and be the 3rd scoring option on a bad night. He needs to get paid.

Re: You Da Mann: The Tre Mann thread.
I think a contract similar to what Moody got would make sense 3/39.
Gives Mann some certainty but also short enough that he could look to be a starter if it didn't pan out in Charlotte for him.

Re: You Da Mann: The Tre Mann thread.
I'm 100% in favor of extending him now (early). I think it's a smart/safe bet where we can lock him in before his value goes any further. I can't see it decreasing from where it is today. If he'd take somewhere in the range of 3/42 as others have suggested then I think that's a pretty solid W.

Re: You Da Mann: The Tre Mann thread.
We already had to pay 5 million buyout to Bertans as a surcharge for Mann. Also 15 million to Micic these next 2 seasons.
So 20 million for the right to match all bidders in Mann's restricted free agency.
Mann was the only player in that deal earmarked for a potential long term role here.
It's not my 20 million dollars, but getting him for Hayward's expiring deal feels like a steal. It was largely a financial transaction.
But OKC lost their bet on Hayward making an impact in the playoffs. And Kupchak won his bet on Mann becoming an impact player here longterm who fits the timeline.
