The radio guys say it was a very questionable call and that they called the okafor tip, not the Nazr tip. I wish I could have seen it.

If the Bobcats want to win more games, they need to quit that zone defense. Look how many offensive boards they've given up. They lost this game and last night's game on 2nd chance points..

Not sure if I agree....I think the zone is keeping them in it....Until they can start to defend man to man better they will have to go with it....

Lets just secede from the NBA and form our own basketball league.

JRich's shot was definitely short, but they replayed it several times and it was definitely going to hit the rim. I think its the right call, but a very crappy was to lose such a hard fought battle.

That said, as a Pistons fan I really like what I've seen from your team, especially with the addition of Nazr.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Bobcats and the Pistons in a first round playoff match up... It would be a series I'd love to see.

I hate that rule anyway, it's just stupid.

Good game folks, you played very well.

I thought it had to be in the cylinder to be goal tending?

Tough loss after fighting so hard against the odds. Lots of guys stepped up tonight and played their asses off just like they did last night. Shame they don't get rewarded...totally shameful that they get screwed by calls two games in a row.

They have enough athletes and a defensive big. There is no reason not to play real defense. You can't be giving teams multiple chances to score in crunchtime..

Is the rule that you can't hit it if it is going to hit the rim or you can't touch it in the cylinder...? I always thought it was the cylinder...

I don't know what the call was, but if it's "because it was going to hit the rim," I've NEVER heard that rule, and definitely never heard it called. The rule that is commonly used, is that you can't touch the ball if it is "in the cylinder," meaning the area encompassing the rim upwards.

If the ball wasn't inside the cylinder, it shouldn't have mattered whether or not it touched the rim first, because I've never heard that rule. If there was a rule you can't touch the ball outside of the rim, if it is going to hit the rim, then that would invalidate a helluva lot of alley-oops.

Then you would just be able to jump up and grab every shot before it makes its way over the cylinder.

Basically from my understanding is you can't touch a ball that has a chance to go in.

Basically its going to be a judgment call but I've seen that call made like that many times over the years.

Basically if the ball is on a path to hit the rim they call offensive interference.

BS. I see plenty of alley-oop passes that could have gone in if no one touched them. That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

Uh no...you can trace the trajectory of the ball, and in this instance the ball would have been lucky to graze the rim. Mek caught the ball right before it hit then pushed it over.

No two ways about it...was a bad call.

Course if we'd have hit FTs at a better rate than 66% it'd have been a moot point. Still, playing behind the eight ball like we were it sucks to lose in that fashion.

It is stupid.

Hell, we've been beaten by last second tip-ins like that.

If it is a rule, it's certainly a judgement call, and only the Bobcats could be playing at home and get a "judgement call" like that to go against them in the closing seconds.

Bobcats have been a terrible defensive rebounding team for years, I think it has nothing to do with the zone.

From the NBA rules,

For goaltending to occur, the ball, in the judgment of the official, must have a chance to score.

Touch any live ball from within the playing area that is on its downward flight with an opportunity to touch the basket ring. This is considered to be a "field goal attempt" or trying for a goal.

Definitely was on a "downward flight" with and "opportunity to touch the basket ring."

GOOD CALL!

Exactly.

And it didn't...it was SHORT. I don't see anything in that line saying "hit the rim".

There I updated it with the fact that you can't touch a ball on a downward path that is going to hit the rim.

Return to Charlotte Hornets
