Good luck to you mods if that happens

Anyone bites if Wizards offer Bilal and 18 for 4?

Hope not. Don’t need another lousy shooter. If we’re trading back with the Wiz, it needs to be 6 & 18 minimum. Thats probably our best possible outcome, and I’d welcome it if Jeffie is determined to pass on Ace (assuming VJ goes 3rd). Tre or Kon or both will be there…suspect Utah will take Fears at 5.

No way Jose.

Wiz want Ace or Fears. They acquired McCollum who is there to run PG, so they're out on Fears for whatever reason.

I think they're stuck at 6.

Not enough to move up for Ace/Fears

5 & 21
6 & 18
7 & 23
8 & 19 & 22

Bidders will have to add players to differentiate their offers from the pack. It just looks like there isn't much separation in pick value.

Bilal doesn't move the needle like some of the more established players on the other teams bidding.

So connecting the dots…

Ace and Washington are connected. He will almost certainly be picked there at #6 if on the board. Brooklyn and maybe New Orleans are interested too and want to jump Washington, we are the logical pick at 4 to get Ace.

Brooklyn wants to move up to 4 with 8+19+22 or something. Issue is that’s not really good enough for #4 imo.

We are at a crossroads. I think Jeff just stays and picks at 4.

ESPN has Fears going 5th to Utah. Indeed those who want Ace will need to bring some big stacks from the wall safe to compete. My concern with trading back to 8th is having very limited options. Supposedly the Pelicans are zeroing in on a center, and could take either Queen or Maluach there. I think they are out of the bidding for Ace. So it’s likely Wiz verses Nets. BRING IT BOYS.

I think Utah, Wiz, Pelicans really want one of Fears or Ace and one team will miss out, which is enough to up the bidding war to give the Hornets good (Unless the Sixers pass on VJ, then I think the Hornets just take VJ)

Wiz could easily be putting out the Fears thing to try and get Ace without a trade. If we don’t take him at 4, I really haven’t seen a whole lot about Utah being real connected to him. So Washington could be just waiting this out, thinking none of the teams 3-5 would draft him. The Fears thing could be an extra card to make other teams feel like they’re fine with either player.

Plus Jazz, they can't sit at 5 for Fears knowing the Wiz are looking to jump them, and got exposed trying to hide Fears in an undisclosed location.

So I count 3 bidders: Jazz, Wizards, Nets.

We should be pressing those teams for players. So that leaves out the Wiz. They don't have any.

If the Nets want to really get Ace, they need to bring us a serious player trade as part of all that. Something that appeals to what the Hornets want to do. I suggest demanding the following which works via Trade Checker: Hornets get Claxton, 8, 19, 22; Hornets send Williams, Tiddy and Josh Green, the 4, 34 picks. Hornets get the center they’d prefer, pick 8 for maybe Tre who is sliding a bit, or Kon, or Jaku, plus 2 strong spots to take a PF and another SG/SF or C.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Don't overthink it.

The archetype of the player most sought by bidders is lead guard or lead scorer.

So Fears and Ace are likely generating the most bids.

I like Bilal but I like VJ and Tre more and Ace will be a better scorer the second he steps foot in the NBA so it makes no sense

I do agree with this 1000%. Even if it was a whiff of a draft pick hopefully it sent a message that this is the expectation moving forward. And then they doubled down by adding moose into the mix. I guarantee you those two are the hardest workers in the locker room right now.

if anyone in that building thinks drafting Tiddy because he's a grinder and they expect to set the tone with the Melo's and Miles' of the world then they should immediately resign and never work in basketball again.

I have a feeling Melo gives exactly zero **** how hard Tiddy grinds and only cares that the dude sucks at playing basketball.

Be a **** professional organization and surround those guys with some veteran presence that actually command some respect. Like the Taj signing for example. Like Grant. This team has done a horrific job of yo-yoing draft picks with no idea of how to build a team because they seem to just give up on all the other avenues of improvement. It's infuriating

All roads point to us either taking Kon at 4 or Maluach at 8 after a crappy trade down. As a UNC fan I miss Mitch.

This is such a stupid trade.

Has any team traded down like that and won?

I can’t believe people are actually falling for the Konpaganda. The kid has the athleticism of a software engineer and we’re talking top 5 for him? It feels like he’s the prospect who everyone “likes” but no one would actually be dumb enough to take top 5 because they’re not stupid. Which also perfectly describes Salaun last year for opposite reasons.

The hell has Tidjane been grinding to be the most unskilled player I’ve seen in a Charlotte jersey since Diop lol
