I thought we were just supposed to vote for those three teams to break the tie

With there being so many difference making wings on the teams, it really comes down to who has the best front courts because having a low post scoring threat is the single most effective weapon in my eyes. Durant and Smoove together is a scary sight, adding a dependable low block scorer in Pau helps even more. Then you bring Landry (offense) and Camby (defense) off the bench who are just as good a match.

And while I don't really like Dahtay as a starter, even though he plays that Thabo role well, you have two capable backups in Gordon and Turner who can come in and be effective.

What pushed you down was the Billups/Jack pairing. Behind front court depth, strong PG play is essential in a great team, and I don't really think Billups can play at a high level anymore without being selfish. I prefer guys who are capable distributors and guys like Durant and Pau really need somebody setting them up and you don't really need scoring from the PG slot with those two and Gordon as the spark plug.

Had you gone with a pure passer as your PG, you'd have been right up there with a case for #1. For example, Kidd was taken one slot after you and would have made your team much, much scarier. Also, I think Okur is useless on your team and you'd have been better suited taking a 3rd string PG instead, but that's just splitting hairs at this point.

I agree that taking Billups over my all time favourite player in Kidd was a huge mistake,in fact it took me hours to decide which to pick.

Why I took Billups:
1.Kidd is said to be retiring amidst lockout
2.I didn't have a capable 3rd option, people are not sold on Ben Gordon
3.I didn't know people have such a strong dislike on Billups currently

I looked over everyone's team, didn't read the thread, not even sure why I am posting considering I got shafted last year with my Pierce/Joe Johnson/Garnett big 3 when no one else had a big 1. Clearly its between Sachmo and Ian. If you played a 7 game series right now, I think the edge would go to Sachmo, because his interior is tougher and Rashard can hit the 3 on that team just as well as Ray Allen could.

So Sachmo gets the win.

Seems that way. The only other thing we could do would be to post the teams on the player comparison board and ask people to take a look.

That might be overkill though. In saying that, with the lockout on maybe posters would dig it?

Yeah I mean I think our official result is decided, Fred wins, but I'm interested in any input from other sources (NBA2k, Comp board, whatever).

I don't even think Fred's team would beat the Miami Heat, nevertheless other teams in this competition. Kobe and LeBron trump all. Especially when you see who is paired around them.

The case against Sachmo is pretty simple to make... they're f'ing ancient and have all begun the downsides of their careers. By next June that team might look a heck of a lot worse than it does now, and that's more uncertainty than the other top teams have about their stars.

I voted Ian number two, but a Bosh-Varejao frontcourt does not impress the way Horford/Bogut does, and Chris Paul would absolutely eviscerate that team. Add on a bench that I think is basically awful, and the edge goes to Fred despite the presence of the best player in the NBA. Certainly they'd have a strong chance if LeBron goes off though.

I demand a recount!!

Just kidding, I'm happy to end it as its been dragging on a bit.
I should have been strategic and not voted for Fred's team, I would have won this thing.
I would never last on Survivor.

This was good fun and its a good result when no one can agree on a clear winner.

That reverse order round really mixed things up, screwed up a few of my plans anyhow.

It still didn't work to even the odds of the draft order... as Coolio put it, "Kobe and LeBron trump all." Top four finishers were picks 2, 3, 4, and 5.
