Interesting that OKC is trying to create space for a $7 million trade exception by sending cash in the deal as well instead of just letting Kevin Martin willfully walk for nothing

I remember it just like yesterday when Perry Jones III was supposed to be a top 5 pick with all the potential in the world. That's the exact reason why I don't think Charlotte should stay content with holding onto Portland's 1st rounder hinging on the prospects of future draft picks

Bobcats make previously reported Josh McRoberts deal official.

Now I could be wrong, but this deal - along with Hendo's cap hold - should have put us over the cap. I wonder if we have some sort of agreement with Hendo, or another team that would take Hendo, or if we're just letting him walk.

Don't forget that Tyrus Thomas was recently amnestied. That's $8.7 million in cap space

Working on the timeline, which could easily be pre-Martin acquisition, but told #Twolves have talked to Charlotte about Gerald Henderson.

I wonder if a variation of that Derrick Williams trade is still on the table. Something like Williams to Charlotte for Gerald Henderson & Portland 1st rounder. Williams would make for excellent depth at the SF/PF position for Charlotte going into the future while Jeffrey Taylor moves into the starting SG role in a similar aspect to what Thabo Sefolosha is for the Thunder as a defender that specializes in spot shooting

PG - Walker/Sessions
SG - Taylor/Gordon
SF - Kidd-Gilchrist/Williams
PF - Zeller/McRoberts
C - Jefferson/Biyombo

Already taken into account, Big Al took that space and more. I know I can't take these numbers as gospel, but I'm just following along and here's what I have. Regardless it's close.

Ben Gordon - 13,200,000
Al Jefferson - 13,078,150 (estimated with 4.5% raises next two seasons)
Gerald Henderson - 7,753,318 (Cap Hold)
Ramon Sessions - 5,000,000
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist - 4,809,840
Cody Zeller - 3,857,040
Bismack Biyombo - 3,049,920
Josh McRoberts - 2,689,487 (estimated 4.5% with raise next season)
Kemba Walker - 2,568,360
Brendan Haywood - 2,050,000
Jeff Adrien - 916,099
Jeff Taylor - 788,872

That's $59,761,086 after amnestying Tyrus, and the cap is $58,679,000. Being that it's only about $1m over, I probably have some wrong data somewhere. That said, I thought the reason we were holding off on signing McBob was to ensure we'd have room for Hendo (or his cap hold, at least), otherwise I'm not sure why we waited a bit longer to sign McBob.

Just sent all this to Bonnell too (naturally not helpful): "The Bobcats certainly wouldn't perceive themselves as "above the cap."" Thanks Rick.

I have it as $5.5m. It could be $2.75 each year, but I assumed it was with a 4.5% raise: $2,689,487 this year, $2,810,513 next.

Charlotte may have to opt out of Jeff Adrien's team option in order to stay under the cap, and then decide whether they want to retain him for the minimum again at a later date

Here's how Rufus On Fire is reporting the state of the Bobcats salary cap...

Ben Gordon - $13,100,000
Al Jefferson - $13,200,000
Ramon Sessions - $5,000,000
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist - $4,809,840
Gerald Henderson - $4,531,459
Cody Zeller - $3,857,040
Bismack Biyombo - $3,049,920
Josh McRoberts - $3,000,000
Kemba Walker - $2,568,360
Brendan Haywood - $2,050,000
Jeff Adrien - $916,099
Jeff Taylor - $788,872

Guaranteed - $55,955,491
Total - $56,871,590
Total sans Henderson - $52,340,131

Green = qualifying offer | Red = unguaranteed money

Al Jefferson's contract appears to be backloaded, leaving the Bobcats with some slight help in the present. Gerald Henderson's qualifying offer is included here, as is Jeff Adrien's unguaranteed deal. The Bobcats have 12 players, which is fine going into the season. Teams must have 12 players on their roster, but the maximum is 15. They don't have much room to work with if they want to add a few more players. Some minimum deals could be in order. They could also utilize their mid-level exception to sign a player and go over the cap. There's some flexibility, but not a whole lot. Also if Henderson returns on a bigger contract, the Bobcats would near the soft cap further.

In the scenario that Henderson leaves or is dealt in a sign-and-trade, the Bobcats could be left with less or more space depending on the return. If a deal returns draft picks or cash, they can pick up some room, or if they use him in a S&T to get a player, they could end up with less space.

Yeah, cutting Adrian would probably free up enough to get us under the cap.

And until he signs it, Hendo's QO doesnt influence the cap. Until then we're stuck with his 7.7 cap hold.

Good, because I didn't want him anyway but that's a decent acquisition for the Lakers considering their cap space or lack thereof.

Lamb, Abrines and Adams please. (I doubt OKC would let Jackson go).
