Re: The 2013 free agency thread.
If Charlotte want a 3rd string PG that can shoot, they might as well just bring Jannero Pargo, because he's as good of a shooter with experience that'll you'll find for the minimum. Personally, I hope the Bobcats sign a 3rd string PG that has enough youth & upside to succeed Ramon Sessions if he so happens to walk after the 2013-14 season or is packaged in a deal before the trade deadline to a contender desperate for PG help

Works for me.
The Charlotte Bobcats have expressed interest in Jamaal Tinsley, according to sources.
I don't get this. Dude's way over the hill isn't he?

Tinsley? The guy was retired/out of work for a couple years, and the Jazz brought him back last year. He did absolutely nothing. If he's a good teacher, I won't hate this at all.
Mike Miller would make a decent emergency 5th wing behind MKG, Taylor, Sessions, and Hendo.
I think all young teams need vets who can teach their young guys.

Don't see too many assists in the Summer League. Diante Garrett had 12 dimes tonight. If he's odd man out in the crowded PHX PG then I like him as CHA PG3.

I would say that Diante Garrett plays like a pass-first Delonte West, if that helps. His style of play is methodical in the fact that he doesn't force the issue, but he gets where he wants on the floor

Garrett put up over 17 points and 6 assists per game this season in one of the toughest leagues in college basketball, but most of the buzz about him didn't start picking up until teams saw more of him at Portsmouth and in workout settings. His stock has elevated to the point that he has a very good chance of being picked in the first half of the second round, which makes him one of the fastest risers in this draft.
The intrigue with Garrett begins with his excellence size and length at the point guard position, as he stands at 6'5” with an almost 6'9” wingspan. From DraftExpress.com http://www.draftexpress.com#ixzz2ZGnKG3Gg

Well, at least we know his salary then: $2,652,000 this year and likely $2,771,340 next year for a total $5,423,340. It goes back to what I said when we signed Al and Zeller before McBob, Hendo's cap hold made it impossible to sign all three. I was left scratching my head when we signed McBob a day later, as that would have forced us to renounce Hendo (by my numbers), so this makes more sense.
I don't like the use of the Room Exception though, since doing so eliminates the Mid-Level and Bi-Annual for us, but I guess McBob was getting impatient (or they figure there's no way we'd use more than our $9.36m in cap space, but even that is cut to about $1.6m right now with Hendo's cap hold). If we can re-sign Hendo for a salary starting around $6.3m (about 4/28, or an average of $7 per) we'll have about $3m to play with to go after Jamison, Tinsley, or whomever.

Re: The 2013 free agency thread.
7 million/year for a 6th man is too much to lock into for the next 4 years for this team. Not one team has offered a multiyear deal. We would be bidding against ourselves. Let's see an offer first. I just want to see one before we start talking about 4 years, 7 million.
It has been written...

^I agree with you, I think anything over $6m per is too much, I just think that $7m is a likely "meet-in-the-middle" point between the sides.

in Henderson's dreams is $7M in the middle of what he wants and what the Bobcats want to sign him for.

Hilarious that 2 months ago 95% of the people on this board said he'd get 7-8 mill. Now that he's asking that you guys act like he just committed murder.

Weren't there rumors of him wanting over $8m? Market value for him is like $6m, so that would be "the middle."
I suppose we could be seriously lowballing him, but I've gotta think if we're that far apart he'd take the QO and one year of lesser pay instead of settling into a long-term deal where he also feels as though he's being underpaid.

I've always stated that I wouldn't offer Henderson over $6 million annually, and $7 million would be the stretch if out of desperation. I disputed with others that Henderson doesn't have the reputation around the league to demand more

i mean, he could want $15M, doesn't mean its realistic. I'm sure his agent had a realistic starting point in mind for negotiation, but that seems like its in the rear view mirror nowadays. I hear you, I just don't think he's got any more leverage to get what he wants, at least for this offseason. so unless the Bobcats are feeling charitable he'll either sign for the QO or a longer contract starting around the QO. now watch the Bobcats prove me wrong.

Re: The 2013 free agency thread.
I still like the idea of bringing in Austin Daye to be a combo forward. He is more of a SF, but at 6-11 he can play some 4 and he has a great stroke. Would be an ideal guy to play in small ball at the 4 next to MKG...
He shot 41% from three point range last season and he has decent length to bother shots. I would give him the veterans mininimum to play 10-15 minutes a game and be a spark every now again

Daye is still on the market? Sign him up! I didn't even know it since nobody has been talking about him. He'd be the perfect cheap solution for us as a combo forward that can shoot 3s.

Clippers and Byron Mullens working on a 2 year deal.
Of course now the Clipper fans on the Gen Board are calling him a good player who will excel with Paul and Doc Rivers
