The Blazers now have just 2 fewer losses than the team slotted to pick 14 in the 2014 NBA Draft!!!!

It is definitely time to get excited about this pick.

If this pick ends up a lottery pick and the Pistons pick a top 5 pick in 2015, plus we sign another big free agent like Luol Deng or Lance Stephenson.

We can have a special blend of vets, prime players and young prospects.

I can't believe the fact that there's still a chance we could pick #9 and #14 in this draft. Detroit's schedule isn't exactly hard. They just beat the Jazz soundly, and they play Milwaukee, Cleveland, and Philadelphia as 3 of their next four games. Boston and Cleveland again follow soon after. Their schedule is easier than ours IMO.

It is unreal.

What I want is to make the playoffs 2 years in a row and still draft a lottery pick. You can't ask for anything more than a team built to win-now and develop prospects to sustain a winning culture into the future.

Give me #14 this year and #5 next year!!! And give me one more legit scoring option via free agency.

We could have

Kemba Walker
Al Jefferson
Free agent

MKG
Zeller
Biz

Pick #14 in 2014
Pick #5-10 in 2015

We could have a poor man's "Big Three" complimented by a much richer supporting cast than commonly found around superteams.

rather have the two rookies this year or package both and move up to 6 or 7. Detroit won't give us a top 5 pick in 2015. I don't see it. Remember, we'll have our own pick again next year and it's unlikely to be any worse than 18-ish.

Maybe a team with a PG would listen to Pistons pick (whether it conveys or not) + Blazers pick for Dante Exum.

That is great news. The way they are playing, Chicago, Memphis, Phoenix, Golden State, and LA Clippers will all destroy them. I think even Atlanta can beat them at this rate. LAL, SAC, and UTAH will be tanking, and I think NOP will as well. I think they go 4-6, which puts them at 49-33. If Dallas and Phoenix go 7-4 apiece, that puts Portland in a three-way tie for 7-9 seeds. Portland DOES NOT hold the season series against either team. :o Portland would drop down to 9th.

This is a long shot (as Dallas's schedule is fairly difficult) but it is definitely possible.

EDIT - Memphis would have to go 7-5 as well, and their schedule isn't a cakewalk either.

That is a pipe dream to the highest degree. I would go absolutely bananas if we lucked into Dante. Kemba/Exum/MKG/Al+three point shooters... :onfire:

I can't see Detroit's pick being anything higher that 10th next season, they aren't even top 5 bad with half the NBA tanking away, if anything they will be a lot better next season because Monroe is gone so Smith can play PF they draft a SF or SG that can shoot and role out with a starting 5 next season of

PG-Jennings
SG-KCP or FA
SF-McDermott
PF-Smith
C-Drummond

that is a playoff team starting 5 in the East

The Blazers games against the Suns, Warriors and Grizz are key because those teams have to finish strongly and they need to beat the Blazers to catch them. It's a double kill.

I don't see any way they get worse (unless they hire D'Antoni for the lulz)

Over who?

FA won't sign there. So slot in KCP.

McDermott is not on the docket for them. Ford has them picking Ennis or Smart, neither prolific shooters and both will be learning on the fly.

It's a crap team.

Without big moves that rock the state of the franchises, Philly, Orlando, Boston, and Milwaukee are definitely still going to be bottom tier teams. If Melo bolts, the Knicks are toast. Brooklyn could implode this summer (Pierce leaves, KG retires, Brooklyn tries to trade off Williams or Lopez now that both are damaged goods...). Cleveland hasn't shown any kind of potential whatsoever. There's 7 right there and I guarantee the Pistons improve significantly through a Monroe or Smith trade, and drafting a scorer at the wings.

There is no way the Knicks are as bad next year. ATL gets Horford back. The Cavs are loaded with talent.

You can make a case for the Pistons besting 1, even 2 of those teams, but all 3?

They are by no means a shoe-in for the playoffs. They will likely add a raw rookie PG who can't shoot via the draft and sell-low on Monroe.

While POR has been dropping like a rock, PHX looks like they've decided they're better off in the lottery this year. Aldridge due back possibly as early as tomorrow. Looks like our POR pick stays around 23/24.

They've won 4 games in a row.

And the Mavs won last night.

The Grizz, Mavs and Suns are all just 2 games away from the 5 seed Blazers and you honestly think any one of them will decide "they're better off in the lottery this year"?

You have this draft totally overrated.

All of these teams are trying to win.

The Blazers pick could end up 14!!!

Maybe Zach LaVine is there.
