Well before doing the draft there needs to be clarifying on what you are accomplishing. For example, if it is to win a 7 game series, or if it is for a full NBA season run, or if it is a team for the future. I was going by if each of these teams were in a 7 game series with each other, who would ultimately beat out everyone else. I guess thats how I lost last season, too, lol.

Sachmo's team is ancient, but would probably beat any other team in a 7 game series at this very moment. But his team will suck in 3 years and might not last over the course of a season.

Had to limit the amount of teams posted to the teams that received votes in our board vote because a poll doesn't allow more than 10 options and I figured that was the fairest way to trim the options:

the goal was to build a team that will win the finals next season, so they have to be able to get to the playoffs as well as get through the playoffs.

Which is why for the entire rest of the draft it should have just gone bottom back up.

I'm not sure it would have made that much difference, especially since the categories stop you from always taking BPA. My fourth man would be better, I guess? So maybe Iguodala or Harden to play SG instead of Tony Allen, or Marcin Gortat instead of Andersen? That's an improvement, but kind of a marginal one, I doubt that makes my team a winner.

Now, same team but with Paul instead of Westbrook? I think I'd have gotten some votes.

Maybe we just had too many teams. Maybe we should have had 8, and maybe done two comps if we had too many people who wanted to play?

Perhaps next year we should have a random order for each round?

This year:

You - 13th then 2
Me - 14th then 1

Next year:

First Round: You 13 | Me 14
Second Round: You 2 | Me 8
Third Round: You 10 | Me 3
etc.

I think that's probably the best we could do to even the odds across the board.

That would be even worse... not only would some players probably end up with several late picks in the early rounds (10th, then 14th, then 13th, etc.), but some players would be unstoppable juggernauts with repeated early-round picks.

There's really only one option that eliminates the problem, and that's an auction, which would obviously get rid of the whole scavenger hunt aspect of the draft. Failing that, I guess you could either shrink it down (8 might be about right... the worst first-rounder is someone like Rose or Gasol) , or really go crazy with giving the late-pick teams extra guys... maybe give compensatory picks to the last four teams?

I don't think it would.

I think I picked 8th with Dwight.

random order for each round is not the solution.

either we go back to having an agreed upon "do not draft list" again or we find a way to give those picking at the bottom earlier picks in the 2-5th rounds.

also, this year was tough because i allowed 14 teams. but i wanted as many people as possible to have a chance at curing their summer boredom.

and more than anything, this is about having fun, so win or lose i still love it. i knew from the second i selected nash i had no shot at winning.

Yeah but it wouldn't be fair to let the CPU decide rotations and stuff. So I'd like to get that info. I got it from 2-3 players. It's not a big deal, maybe next year (or hell next week if you guys felt like it) we could hook something more effective up.

Poll creation only allows 10 options - and seeing as we had 14 teams I couldn't list everyones, so I only listed the ones that received votes from our own internal scores.

I would have liked to have been able to poll all 14 teams though.

What rosters are you going to use? I hope not the standard 2k11 roster because they have Kobe, Duncan, Parker, and Garnett all rated above 85 or even in the 90s I think, even though they declined this season IRL. Sachmo's team would sweep it's way to the finals
