The big dude is slapping his face while saying under his breath:

"Oh man, these are just two of my 11 kids - and they be to 8 different mommas. Now I gets to getting paid in the NFL my child support ticket is going to be l-a-r-g-e".

lots of talk of plantar fasciitis this playoffs. it was always an injury i heard about all my life but never dealt with personally until this spring. i have been having problems in my right foot for the past 5 weeks. it sucks. so far i have been stubborn to stop playing hoops once a week, so its not getting any better. feels like i am walking on a hot knife, especially in the mornings. anyone else ever had a bad case of this and if so what did you do to get rid of it?

My impression is that it's similar to achilles tendonitis (which I have had), in that the cause is an overworked tendon, and the treatment is to rest it. I had to stop basketball for several months due to the tendonitis. I took up biking to get my cardio.

The best thing you can do besides rest is to lose weight. That will reduce strain on the tendon, and make it less likely to return as a problem after it heals up.

Note: I am not a doctor.

Yeah if it's anything like tendinitis, rest is the best. I got terrible tendinitis in my forearm and I had to rest, ice, and heat it for like 6 months before it felt close to normal. I'd probably get some sort of compression sock or ace bandage around it to keep it tight and warm, massage some tiger balm on it after most of your pain subsides. It takes forever to heal b/c you don't have any blood vessels that go to it.

I've had it Fat's and what your getting sounds similar.

It was painful in the morning before it warmed up and later in the evening. It still ached occasionally through the day.

According to the 2 doctors I saw the only solution is rest.

Was a good enough reason for me to take 3 sick days from work and bum.

The lack of activity on the board today has made it very difficult for me to put off this 10 page paper that's due at midnight. I'm disappointed in all of you.

Thanks K2H, it was a good one.

I managed to wind back the clock a little tonight in basketball. We only had 5 players and were playing the top side.

Was hitting pull up jumpers like a 20 something Sachmo.

Still lost by 2 though. :sigh:

the bball hang over has set in.

My back is seizing up, my ankles and feet are complaining whenever I move and my knees are continually screaming at me. Reminding me that basketball was ok 20kg's ago. Now not so much!

I will quieten those screams with scotch :D

I'm proud of basketball. We've got an openly-gay active(sort of) player before NFL/MLB/NHL etc.

Kudos to Jason Collins for volunteering to take all the abuse that somebody had to take sooner or later.

I figured it was only a matter of time. Major props to Collins- this is really groundbreaking. It has to take a hell of a lot of courage to announce something like that to the public, especially in his situation, being the first athlete in NBA/NFL/NHL/MLB history to come out while still active.

Yes, good for Jason Collins. That was a surprising story to see on the BBC or wherever I first saw it earlier.
