They will have a top 8 pick, and a huge trade chip in Monroe, plus Drummond improving and a new coach and GM.

Why wouldn't they be better?

one thing is for sure they can't get any worse

Oh yes they can.

They can be a bottom 5 team.

They are a sad, sad group of players. Poor Drummond. Can't wait till he leaves that sorry franchise.

You know what. I'll get banned for this and idc because I love my damn team. But sorry franchise? How many championships, conference titles, division titles and playoff appearances do the bobcats have? You can take our 3 championships, 7 conference titles (6 straight appearances), 9 division titles and put it where the sun doesn't shine. When you have some of those in your franchise, you'll have the right to call a franchise sorry.

Other teams near them have picks and can select comparable players. They will probably end up with Tyler Ennis. And Monroe is not a huge trade chip at all. He is a rental unless they do a sign and trade and he's looking to get paiiid.

A new coach and GM isn't going to change the fact they are killed by chuckers Smith and Jennings and Drummond doesn't play defense.

I'm sick of this panic over the Pistons pick.

I'm totally done talking about it.

Yeah, I know its crazy for fans to want a top 10 pick in a good draft this year as opposed to waiting until next season where there are a ton of uncertainties. :-?

no way, not with the Celtics, Magic and Utah still tanking and the Bucks and 76ers still going nuclear with the tank

What?

Bucks and Sixers are the only teams clearly worse. Kings, Celtics, Magic and Jazz are on the ups. All those teams will walk away from the draft with better players than the Pistons select. And all of them have ways of improving just as the Pistons can trade Monroe as a rental.

Thought that was a Dallas Cowboys fan for a moment, although not as bad. " Look at all we've done in our history ".

The fact that you label rational aversion to risk as panic shows who is being dramatic here.

I completely forgot what aversion meant. Had to go look it up. Thanks for the education, friend.

No. I'm definitely confident in how much their team sucks and how difficult it is to change the chemistry with Josh Smith there, Jennings, no trade assets beyond a rental and Tyler Ennis, a player who is no different than the players who will be drafted by all the teams immediately ahead of the Pistons.

Against the weak East, the Pistons sucked this year. The East will be better next year.

I get your logic, that wasn't my point. I'm saying that those who would rather have the pick this year aren't panicking - it's a perfectly legitimate position.

The "tanking" Suns are now the 8th seed. The 9th seed Mavs are slotted to pick 14. They are 2 games behind the Blazers. This is the pick I really want to see help our team in the 2014 because we gave up Wallace. And I hate the Blazers for tanking last year even though they only ended up with CJ McCollum. They're going to lose a better player this draft and they deserve it. I want them to lose a Zach LaVine or James Young.

i don't think you get it. the rest of the teams between us and them completely suck. atlanta is terrible, cleveland is even worse, new york is dysfunctional and i think melo's got one foot out the door. detroit just needs to fix ONE of a few problems: Jennings is one problem, Smith shooting threes out the ass is one problem, not having a shooting guard is one problem, not having an NBA caliber coach is one problem. They fix ONE of those things, and I think they are the 8th seed. I see no reason to believe otherwise. drummond's ceiling is ridiculous. they're going to have a top 8 pick. they have trade assets. they WILL improve. i don't see how this is hard to understand. detroit isn't going to be a bottom five team even if they stay put.

I don't think Lavine's going to be around at 14, but man i'd have loved to have gotten my hands on that pick last year too. MCW, Adams, GIANNIS?

the Kings have had a star (Cousins) for years and they still find ways to suck and they have Rudy Gay and he is a tank commander and Isaiah is a FA so he might leave, the Jazz might(and probably will) lose Haywood and they play in a very hard division (POR,OKC,MIN,DEN), the Magic have a nice core but they play in a Division with 4 possible playoff teams (MIA,CHA,WIZ and ATL) and the Celtics could get better quicker but they will still probably be a border line team at best, the worst i can see them being is 8th worst and that is if they keep their current core (Drummond,Smith,Monroe and Jennings) and fire and miss on another coach and GM and they play in a decent division but they should beat up on the Bucks and maybe even Cleveland depending on whether they tank or not

To be honest if we don't get it this year I hope we trade it while its value is high instead of chancing Detroit being average next season. Chicago could have improved their team exponentially, but teams wanted our pick, and they clung onto it hoping it would hit the jackpot. Its still a decent mid round pick, but nothing what they hoped for. I don't want us to do the same.

a raw center maybe but that raw center could average 18/15 pretty easily
