Fans of the Raptors, Wizards, and Pacers will be mad seeing Charlotte here. I get it. I have no idea how the Hornets cobbled a league-average defense while playing bundles of small ball, hemorrhaging rebounds, and allowing the second-most 3s (including the most corner 3s!) and fourth-most rim attempts.

That is some serious smoke and mirrors, and Charlotte's zone -- which they played more than anyone, per Second Spectrum -- sewed confusion.

They will likely play smaller even more often without a viable center behind Mason Plumlee. Lineups with P.J. Washington at center outscored opponents by about six points per 100 possessions despite god-awful rebounding; can that hold up?

But there is just something about this team. LaMelo Ball is real. He is a perfect fit with Washington and Miles Bridges, guys at the right age to make mini-leaps. (Bridges made a big one last season.) Gordon Hayward is healthy and with Kelly Oubre Jr. gives Charlotte depth and strength at the wing -- grist for small-ball groups.

These guys have a good spirit. Old and slow teams absolutely hate playing them. I smell something.

That is a pretty spot on analysis by Lowe, thanks for posting

Mason Plumlee is decent on the boards. He's better than Zeller in that regard anyway. But we're still going to struggle to end possessions due to poor rebounding in all likelihood. That's why it sucks that PJ is basically all we have behind Plumlee. I love Kai, but he isn't ready yet and if you're expecting that you're setting yourself up for disappointment.

He has a golden opportunity just sitting there for him though. Our roster desperately needs someone that can run the floor, rebound, deter shots at the rim, and be mobile enough on offense and defense to play out on the perimeter. If he develops into a plus level starter this team is going to go places.

Is he healthy these days? If yes, I would like his Defense as the 2nd or 3rd PG.

I’d give him a shot, even though I have doubts about his creativity

This is the obvious answer for us surely.

He's not injured:
In four pre-season contests, Giles averaged 6.3 PPG, 7.5 RPG, and 1.5 APG on 40.9% from the field. His rebounding ability stood out the most, with his 7.5 RPG leading the Clippers during the pre-season.

he's younger than Richards, unless he is currently addicted to heroin, I cannot see why we wouldn't chase him.

weren't we interested in him before?

I'd cut half our "projects" to take fliers on Terry, Exum, Dunn and Giles.

For sure cut iwundu and at least one of carey richards.

Then we’d just continue to be the same sort of treadmill team we’ve been for the past decade.

At least the “projects” still have the promise of potential.

All the guys you’ve listed above have tapped out their NBA potential.

Giles is a really, really good rebounder. A shame he had 2 ACL tears as it robbed him of a lot of the explosiveness he had in highschool. Still better than Richards though.

I'm pretty sure that Giles is both younger and has more potential than both our god-awful backup centers that we took last year. He would definitely be worth the gamble over someone like Nick Richards. And Tyrell Terry is in his second year so I don't understand how he has no potential left.

Dunn is at least a proven stud Defender and we need a third point guard. His problem have been injuries and he never lived up to being a top-five pick.

I will give you Exum

Who would you rather see at the end of our bench... Dunn, Exum or iwundu? Exum at least has great size and cab playmake. Dunn could still carve out a role as point of attack defender.

I feel much better about their ability to impact a game as sub.
