It's kind of sad, but Lil' Nate may have to start off this upcoming NBA season as a free agent, and wait until the right opportunity open up for him via injury, lack of production, & etc.. It's sad because he's better & more productive than the Toney Douglas' of the NBA who only happen to land on a roster before him because they are about 5 inches taller

The Warriors just signed Toney Douglas & the Rockets re-signed Aaron Brooks. The water in the well is running dry for Lil' Nate. I find it a bit disrespectful, albeit it's business, that the Bulls haven't retained him. He would've & would be perfect behind Derrick Rose

The Warriors would have to be (Please Use More Appropriate Word) to keep Toney **** Douglas over a guy like Nate.

@ESPNSteinLine: Mavs tried hard to avoid it but were forced Friday to officially waive center Bernard James to have sufficient cap space to sign Monta Ellis

@ESPNSteinLine: Mavs hope to re-sign James if he clears waivers but legit chance he gets claimed given he's an athletic, blossoming big at less than a mil

Better off keeping or being content with Jeff Adrien than claiming Bernard James off waivers. They're basically the same age (well, James is a year older) & price, but Charlotte already know what they'll get out of Adrien

Yeah, an undersized PF. James would be a really nice 3rd big to have, especially if the tide comes in and takes Driftwood away.

"Valencia Basket, Vitor Faverani's now ex-team, is tweeting that Celtics have signed Brazilian 7-footer for 3 yrs, $6M ... Celts had been working on Faverani buyout. Now even more challenge to get under tax. Have until 8/1 to make call on Shavlik Randolph ($1.1M)."

Shavlik Randolph possibly available!!! Are you kidding me! Josh McRoberts & Shavlik Randolph on the court at the same time! High comedy! This has got to happen. Please Make this happen!

I'd give Bernard James a shot. Not a bad 5th big. It would really just be an emergency backup in case two of our bigs are hurt at the same time.

@ESPNSteinLine: In addition to Marcus Camby, second-year center Bernard James has cleared waivers today, clearing way for James to re-sign with Mavericks

@ESPNSteinLine: Mavs had to waive James on Friday because they needed cap space he was occupying to free up every last dime of space to sign Monta Ellis

@ESPNSteinLine: But now that James has cleared waivers, Mavs can & will re-sign him at league minimum, which is permissable after using all their cap space

Pretty good player for league minimum.

It doesn't look like the Bobcats will feature Henry Sims in their training camp

...but Malcolm Thomas is now available. Thomas was on Charlotte's radar around this time last offseason. Maybe they'll land him this go around

As a camp invite, sure. I just don't see him as that much of an improvement over Adrien.

At this point I would only sign Gerald Henderson, Brandan Wright, and thats really about it.

Malcolm Thomas would be an excellent 5th/6th big for us.

He can't play the 5 effectively which is unfortunate.

Half of the starting 5s in the league can't play the 5 effectively. We need to fill about 3 more spots on the roster. I wouldn't mind Thomas being our last big.

Which is what I was saying really, we should sign him but we cannot expect him to play anything more than spot minutes at the 5 and our 4 spot is pretty crowded at the moment.

We should sign him regardless.

thomas over adrien, but at what cost? we have adrien for cheap on a non-guaranteed deal. would it really make sense to cut adrien to sign thomas to a (bigger) deal only for him to be our 6th big man?

We can keep Jeff Adrien and sign Malcolm Thomas. We only have 12 players on contract including Adrien and Henderson. Thomas can't demand much more than the minimum being that he's never played significant minutes in the NBA. We'll need to fill the roster with at least another big (Thomas?), a SF/PF that can shoot (Ewing Jr?), and a 3rd string PG. No need to think about cutting players when we have space.

You know teams are eying him now that he's scored 33 points in a SL game.
