I'm also skeptical Charlotte will offer him 13m, that just seems like a massive overpay to me IMO considering all the baggage he brings.
Paul George is a superstar. Deal with it

Not saying thats what we will offer him, but thats what we could offer him, and at this point were getting pretty desperate.

On the other hand, we could just wait him out until he has no options left and get him for 10 or 11 millions a year, which would be a steal. But then why not wait and overpay Marvin Williams?

We are forced to make a signing/deal anyway just to get to the floor, so something is going to happen.

Maybe he thinks we have more appeal to him than any other team left and wants to limit the maximum we can offer so he can't ask for more? Sounds stupid, but it almost makes sense

I think it's smart business.

What exactly is Lances market right now?

The Pacers?

Their offer starts at 7.6m and averages out at 8.8m over 5 seasons.

We could offer him 4/40 which is around his value, slight overpay imo, but it's hardly the 15.75m we offered Hayward.

I think our locker room, along with Steve Clifford, can handle him. Jefferson, MKG, Kemba, Williams... everyone but Hairston should be a good influence on him. The high-character, hard-working guys here will be fine. Most everyone who's mentioned our locker room has praised its "togetherness" and chemistry and it's noticeable on the court and off. I think Lance will be fine.

The pacers' offer starts at 7.6?

That's less than Avery Bradley and Trevor Ariza.

If we're worried about the future salaries, we can easily frontload the deal and use the remainder of our cap (let's say 12 to be safe): 12 / 11.5 / 11 / 10.5 over the four years if we wanted to. That's 4/45. Same total money as the Pacers (still a little more), but it's over a year earlier and he can make ENORMOUS money in the new CBA. Even if the market has dried up some, and that's all he gets, that's still way, way better than the Pacers' offer and less than I was expecting him to get even before this crazy offseason started.

Yeah I read somewhere that Lance is pissed that the deal is back loaded and starts at 7.6m...

I like the idea of front loading it, makes it easier to trade if Lance can't behave himself.

I would not be surprised if this was Cho's plan all along.

Im going to laugh if Cho signs him to 10/40 and still has plenty of room to sign another solid player.

Like Nelson to make Roberts a third stringer?

Then trades Gary Neal and JT for cap space to sign CDR and Flogging Tolly?

Sounds like a plan to me. Although Id prefer to keep Taylor.

I'm guessing people would still be upset for some reason.

This off season in their mind would have been a disaster unless we sign Lebron James to the MLE.

It's like because we were the seventh seed, that we should now have a championship or bust mentality...

I like our offseason so far.

Honestly he has no place here. Trade him to the Sixers or something, get some cash or a 2043 2nd round pick or something. MKG, Henderson, CDR, PJ, Williams, and potentially Lance? He's got no chance here.

Eh, he only makes like 900k or so? Im willing to give him another chance. That achilles injury was a tough break for him.

meh, if the moves don't totally suit your tastes you can always flop back to being a 6er's fan.

you're full of options.

I'll be watching a lot of Chicago Bulls next season along with the Hornets 8-)
